    second lawyer meeting

Just had another meeting with a lawyer and he said a few things that made me want to verify. First off I though he was much more organized than the first lawyer and even though he is more expensive he seemed more on the ball and I felt more comfortable with him. he also suggested we rethink keeping the house and offers information on life after BK and how to not make the same mistake which I though was cool.

Now to the things that made me go what!

First lawyer said we would loose one car valued at 20K and tax return of about 11K. he suggested we sell car valued at 20K and use money for necessities like paying property tax and insurance on house. has anyone else ever heard of this. also he said we could use the money for necessary items like repairing the house example putting in new flooring if the carpet is ripped ruined etc. the last thing he said that made me go huh was that we could purchase new furniture and clothes with the money since these items are exempt no matter what? anyone else ever heard of this? He also said we could do the same with tax return. I live in California if that helps and we will probably use system 2 as long as the house comes in valued low.

Your clothing and furniture are exempt. The furniture does have a limit, and in some states the clothing does too. As long as you don't spend more than you have exemptions to cover you could do that.
