Multiple consults are good/some lawyers are stinkers

Just want to make the statement to all of those just starting into the BK process. I reitterate, it is a good idea to get multiple consults before chosing your lawyer. We had a real stinker who we began to work with (and lost 1k in the process)but did not realize how much of a stinker he was until we saw our 3rd and final lawyer. I hate to lose 1K but in our case it was well work it to walk away. Some tips I have learned so far about recognizing a stinker:

If you lawyer wants to meet you at the gas station rather than at his office (which is his house)...he might be a stinker

If your lawyer does not respond to email or phone calls...he might be an irresponsible stinker

If your lawyer tells you that after he drafts your I&J based on your worksheets that he has done most of the work and deserves the 1k you already gave him (without more than his initial consult)...he migh be thieving stinker

If your lawyer is on vacation more than he is availible to you...he might be a lazy stinker

If after returning from extended vacations and not returning your calls you finally get a hold of your lawyer at 6pm and he instructs you to call back during normal business hours.... he might be an inconsiderate stinker

If you lawyer becoems sarcastic and belittling to you as his client...he might be a stupid stinker

If your lawyer tells you that your are thinking too far ahead...he might be an impatient stinker

If you lawyer calls you and asks "what the hell are we doing" in reference to preparedness for filing...you might have regretfully contracted with a rude and pompus stinker

If your new lawyer looks at your old lawyers Scheduels I&J w/means test and tells you that it was all done incorrectly....you might have contracted an incompetant stinker (previously)

if when you call your lawyer and he has no answering service, secretary, or even personalozed voice mail...he might be a moonlighting stinker

If your lawyer want to file after the initial free consult, compltetion of paperwork, and a couple of phone converstations...you might have a stinker on your hands

Finally, if you use the Consumer credit office that your lawyer referred you to and they in turn to not use him as a referral source...you might have a stinker

A recommendation...look for a Board Certified Perosnal Bankruptcy Lawyer if there is one in your area.
