Oregon trustees have a full January agenda

Wow! I just looked at the BK 341 meeting schedule for the two trustees in Oregon. They are incredibly busy compared to last January. Most of what I'm seeing are BK 7 filings, but there are a few 13's. Whatever the case, the numbers appear substantially larger than what I was seeing last year.

It is stunning to me that the economy (perhaps as determined by the not-so-realistic stick markets) is slowly growing with what appears to be a significant jump in filings. It could be that this is just some first-of-the-year phenomena, but time will tell. Has abyone else looked at their state 341 docket and seen this increase?

The fact that we're having to file tells me the economy is REALLY bad! We've weathered so much and now this economy has taken us down....that and our overexpenditures, of course.

What gets me....we heard an economist on tv about 2 weeks ago saying the economy isn't so bad and the housing market is NOT affecting the economy! Wonder where he got his schooling!!!!

I agree with Introuble. We have weathered a lot in the last 20 years and here we are. Both of our own doing and the economics of our locality. I spoke with someone who I consider to be very finacially savy the other day and they are considering it also. The rise in gasoline, food and caring for an elderly parent has left them about $200 a month short. I bet we see a huge influx of new posters to this website very soon.

Alot of the major players are claiming big time 4th quarter defeats. Maybe that's why you see alot 341's scheduled for January. 90+ day defaults on credit cards supposedly went way up during the 4th quarter of the year.

I have been following the economic news now for a while and all are predicting recession in 08. The theory is that it will be short lived as in the past (6 months) but now some economists are thinking it will last all year. On CNBC last week then said that corporate filings will increase by 13 percent in 08. And can you imagine all of the people out there with the foreclosure issue that will be filing, even though congress has told the IRS that the deficiency balances on those foreclosed homes is to be forgiven. I read somewhere that not very many people have been helped by the government bail out plans. So I bet we will all have lots of new members here soon.
