    Certain charges after filing

I filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy in July 2007. It was approved in October 2007. The bankruptcy include a debt for a car loan and I asserted that I want to surrender the car. In September 2007, the credit union contacted me and told me that because I did not have car insurance, they bought one for me (at $900) and charged it to my existing debt. So far, they have not come to repossess the car and I have heard nothing from them since.

Question: was the $900 discharged in the bankruptcy? It is unclear from the bankruptcy papers. On the one hand, the
account was discharged in bankruptcy. On the other hand, that specific charge to the account was added after I filed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jose G.

The Credit Union just added 900.00 to your existing debt? I wonder why they would do that if they would obviously already know that you had filed BK & on that particular car loan as well?

Unless they think they can turn around later and say they never got any notice of the BK? I could not say either way what happens. I don't know.

What kind of car cost 900.00 for insurance & how long was that supposed to be for? I would like to know about that too

      bandit,

      - I wonder about that too. I think that they're just
      disorganized.

      - "What kind of car cost 900.00 for insurance & how long was that supposed to be for?"
      - One year. They obviously did not shop around. They got it through the NCUA.

Send the credit union a letter telling them that they were included in your bankruptcy and to cease all collection activity. Include you date of filing, date of discharge and case number....
