When my BK is over I plan to...

I don't know about you guys, but hubby and I are focusing on that wonderful day when our CH. 13 is over. We have so many things we want to do that MUST be put on hold until then. What are your plans once this part of your life is over? (Or for those lucky people that are already out, what have you done?)

When my BK is over I plan to...

    1. Never EVER have another credit card again (although in this society where everything is ruled by credit score, is this possible?).
    2. Have a savings account that is contributed to on a regular basis (at least twice a month).
    3. General household things (i.e. new floors, planting bushes and flowers outside, and window treatments that are not those $4.97 white paper "blinds" from Home Depot).
    4. Go on a vacation alone with hubby--we never had a honeymoon.
    5. Have children.
jai guru deva om--nothing's gonna change my world...

my plan is to quit paying rent and to buy a home... we pay 600 a month on rent that if we bought this same house, it would be around a 400/mo mortgage payment

We are in the Chapter 7 process and are currently 2 weeks past the 341. However, a few of those things I have started already:

My wife and I each get paid bi-weekly - everytime we get a paycheck I throw a little something into the savings. Right now the property tax bill is looming and I am getting ready for it.

I have been catching up on needed repairs to my car and my house. The type of normal maintenance things I was neglecting because we were so wildly overextended.

I understand your situation in a 13 is a little different - but best of luck to you, sounds like you have a great plan!!

Filing is still a month away, but here is what I am planning to do:

        - Overall, live within my means by setting up a more reasonable budget, one where allowance for living expenses is not dictated by how much left over I have after paying the minimum on credit cards.
        - Never use a Visa/Mastercard again, except for my debit card with Visa logo.
        - Actually start to save money
        - Finally get restarted on my student loans. I currently have them on forebearance but soon I will be able to afford them.
        - Get new glasses and contact lens, which I am overdue for.
        - Travel more frequently and to new places.

Can I suggest something? You might want to look at getting Laser vision correction surgery. I had it done, and it's becoming more and more affordable every day... you'd save SOOOO much money on glasses and contacts!
BUSY running my own credit repair services! Sorry I don't stop in so often any more!

That is an interesting point. I have always planned on getting it done when it comes to Wal-Mart for $39.95. But maybe now I can save up for the real deal!

Ahhh... LASIK. It's a pipe dream for me. It's not something that is in my future unfortunately. I'm losing my sight, they don't know why, and you have to have stable vision to be a good candidate for this surgery. As it is, I am only going to be able to drive for another two or three years at the rate my eyes are changing.
