    received tax refund check yesterday filed chap.13 last week. can i use this money to fix my car and buy insurance?

    Before you do anything, call your attorney Monday and ask. There are a zillion threads in this forum as to tax refund checks in a Chapter 13. You may or may not be able to keep it. Your attorney can so advise you correctly.

      Flamingo is correct. I have a Wildcard exemption meaning I get to keep some of the refund - yet my attorney said to NOT spend any of it until I get the discharge.

        Definitely check with your lawyer. Our trustee is taking our Federal and State taxes, and he hasn't decided if he will go after our stimulus check.

        Last thing you want to do is anger the trustee.
