How long does it generally take to hit the 'wires'? Is it instant? Or does it take 24 hours or so to actually hit. And by wires, I mean - where all the creditors will know.
thanks

You can comfortably figure that some will know by the next day and the majority, if not all, will know by the end of 30 days, depending on what contact addresses were provided as to the creditor. Filings are electronic with the Court and I understand some creditors can be notified by the Court electronically.

Stuff happened pretty quick when I filed - some of my creditors got electronic notices - my mortgage company was really fast to shut down my online access and send me a letter - I'm going to say maybe 3-4 days on that one. I went on PACER and could see who got a USPS notice and who got an e-notice.
I would guess within a week your creditors all know.

Hey I see they shut down your online access which we discussed in an earlier thread. So how would you make your payments now if you are keeping the house. Did this letter include a place to make payments? This has me kind of concerned since we are keeping and I have made my payments thru auto withdraw and 2nd mortgage thru online payments. My bank does not offer online banking, it is going to but not until May. So my basic question is does the letter include an address to mail in your payment? And if you don't mind me asking what does the letter say? If that's to personal I apologize, but the house is my biggest concern, well one of many, and we hope the reaffirming will make this much easier with regards to the house. Thanks Teddy!

I also have my house payments taken out of my checking account automatically, and the CH 13 didn't change a thing with my lender as far as that was concerned, they continued taking the payments out automatically so was not a problem at all. They did send a letter with their lawyers address once they got the BK filing, so that the lawyer would get all correspondence about the BK, but I can even still go on-line and get info there. My morgage was with Century 21 and the morgage lender name is PHH Morgage service, which I had never even heard that name before the BK filing, which had us confused for a while!
