Contributions from Members in my household

Hi All, i'm putting together my paperwork for filing ch. 7. The lawyer wants me to tell who and how much money members in my household gave me.

Why do they need to know this information? Will it be counted as income?

    Thanks in advance for responding.

When completing the Means Test to file bankruptcy, all income coming into the household from all sources for the last six calendar months before filing is added in at the start.

if you file alone, any income from the non-filing spouse and other household members that does not go to supporting the household is subtracted back out later on the Means Test.

If you file with a spouse, then nothing is subtracted out later.

Are you planning to file Ch 7 alone or are you filing with a spouse? Are you using a lawyer or filing without one (pro se)?

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

    06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
    06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
    07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

    10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

      hi lprn

hi, i'm filing ch. 7 alone. i'm separated from my husband. i was a stay-at-home and my husband lost his job. my daughter and i left and moved in with my sister. my husband hasn't given any money but my sister has helped me pay my daughter's daycare a few times. but my sister didn't want me to tell anything about her.

i turned in my paperwork to my lawyer today and the paralegal didn't ask me anything about the contributions. maybe because i easily met the means test.

thanks so much for responding. and i really appreciate the information i find on this board.
