    paying on cc

what happens if my wife has 1k left in checking acct and cc are coming due.its been a yr since she took last cash advance.the cash advances were took because she wasnt working and still isnt working.has bout 5 yrs till retirement but dont think she is gona be able to find a job after quitting other job then had medical issues going on to top it off so think thats a blocker on getting rehired anywheres that will be enough to even pay a portion of the 20k of last 2 advances. Also I have my own debt of bout 30k that is seperate but I might be able to continue paying on mine if get a decent job but its kinda doubtfull. Our house is pd for lien free worth nothing maybe 20k tops and its exempt. But thinking they will put lien against house once she quits paying?

You really should be speaking with an attorney in your area because things not only vary state to state, but jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

I have absolutely no legal basis for what I'm about to say, so do not take it as gospel:

If you state that your area allows your mortgage-free home to be exempted, even if the creditors attempt to put a lein on it, once you file, they can't touch it. And as far as the $1,000 goes, if you know for a fact that you're going to be filing, why bother to pay those CC companies that money? Use it to live off of.

Again, check with an attorney, I cannot say how valid my advice will be in your area.

Take a hard and realistic look at your situation. If you both file, can you support yourself and your wife on 1 income? If not, you have problems that bk can't fix. You need to focus on raising your income before you play the bk card.
