Your best option is to check with your state's bar association to see if complaints have been filed against the lawyer you are considering and ask for their recommendations. Also you can check www.martindale.com to see which bk lawyers are certified in bankruptcy (although lawyers that aren't certified can be excellent and vice versa).
Check with friends and family to see if they have any associations with lawyers in your area. Even if they are not bk lawyers, the local lawyer club is active - they likely know who has the better reputations in each specialty.
