    New and Need Help

I have read a lot on this site and I have determined that this is the right move for me and my kids. The minimum payments are now more than I make. I've talked with an attorney and I am working on the interview sheet. Should I stop making my credit card payments and start saving that money? Any tips on figuring my monthly bills. (The ones most people forget to add in.. haircuts, insurance, etc...) Thanks to all. K

If you "are" going to file BK, then your attorney should advise you at your interview, not to pay on anything that you are not reaffirming on. If you are keeping home, car, you need to keep the payments current.
On your list of expenses, since you have kids, do not forget to list expenses for lunches, school clothes, doctor appointments, etc. Include all insurance payments, home, medical etc. Cell phone costs, etc. List any item that is an expense to you each month. If paid yearly (property taxes, auto insurance), break it down into a month cost to get a figure.
And yes with kids this would include haircuts, etc.
When you attorney goes over your list he will update or revise what you have listed.

I would not pay anything else on the credit cards. But be sure to list them all on forms for lawyer.

During the BK process, start you a savings account - at home.......till your case is closed.
Keep us posted, if we can help, we will be glad too

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
