Was going to walk away from non-reaffirmed mortgage, but...

Now someone from church wants to buy our house. They have no idea we filed, and we have missed one payment (this month). What to do? Call Countrywide and explain what we were planning to do, and what might happen now?

We are walking out of the house because I landed a new job out of state with a 20% raise. Why try to sell in a horrible market when countrywide didn't reaffirm. Really won't lose anything buy doing so either since we have a 2nd mortgage on it too. If we sold it, we only stand to make maybe $5000.

So what are you asking, exactly.

    1. If you are not discharged, you cannot sell the house until you are discharged, or until the trustee abandons the property back to you. At this point, you should wait until discharge

    2. $5,000 is better than zero. All you need to do is request a pay-off from Countrywide. The problem is your pay off will probably include fees and interests associated with the missed payments.

      We are discharged.
So I guess Countrywide will have no problems allowing me to sell this house after missing one payment on a non reaffirmed mortgage.
