I wanted to post a general thanks to everyone who has shared information with me over the past year or so. We finally filed our Ch7 on May 1st. Finding this site was a beacon of light and I read and read and it helped me to feel so much better knowing what to expect, etc..
If not for this website, I may have gone with the first atty we spoke with who told us we would never qualify for a CH7 even though we were under the median income. Luckily I had learned here how it worked so I was able to see that he was either uniformed or misleading us.
We filed about 16 months after stopping paying our creditors. The only one who filed a suit against us was Chase. We are in PA, so wages can't be garnished so that may have been why more didn't file. We were able to file before Chase got the judgement against us.
Aside from dh's health crisis right after filing, I do feel so much better since we filed. When I read posts from those just coming to the realization they need to file BK, I wish I could give them a hug and tell them it will get better. I remember feeling so stressed and alone and now I am at peace with our decision and looking forward to moving forward. I also am thankful for the lessons we've learned thru the process which I think will help us be more financially successful in the future.
Of course, our case was only recently filed and I do feel the normal worries about things that might come up, but they definitely don't feel as overwhelming as those before we filed.
So, thank you to each of you who has taken the time to share your experience, knowledge, and friendly thoughts.
