    Why not a guru?

I used to be a guru on this forum when I didn't really know anything. I still don't know much, but I have filed now and been discharged so I am actually more qualified to be a guru than I was before. Do you get demoted on this forum if you don't post very often? As you can tell, I need recognition from other people...that's probably why I ran my cc's up to buy things to impress people! Oh well, just wondering?
    Thanks,
    Lefty

Nah, there were some changes a couple months back. You are now a mentor at 500 posts and a guru at 1000. Everyone was re-classified if they didn't meet the new criteria.

Me, I don't mind, cause I don't think I was qualified at 100 posts and still not sure I will be when I reach 1K.

Thanks, I agree. I never thought I was anywhere close to being a qualified guru. I've been in this forum for 15+ months, planned, filed and discharged. Still don't really know much. I've been quite amazed at how much information on this site has been totally accurate...and how much of it has been dead wrong. In my case, I had several people tell me that I would never be able to file a 7 because I was way over the median income...wrong. Others said I could probably do it. As you will hear on this forum, every case is unique.

Ah, I just love a good success story...stick around and help us out! Those of us still going through the process need all the help we can get.

While I am far from an expert on BK (been through a Chapter 13 that involved inheritance and early buy out issues), I believe I am still here due to the wonderment of actually having to have gone through all that and possibly helping others to get through it. But it does take a lot of my time on the computer and as life goes on and things change, I am going to have to wean myself off of here eventually because there are many on here that also have gone through filing and are discharged and others going through it and learning as they do. And all situations are different. All advice on here is different. Posting about questions or experiences helps anyone get through a difficult time or a chance to tell what they are going through or have gone through. There could be someone else with a similar experience.

Those of you who know me on here will find I will probably be posting less and less as time goes on because I just don't have the time to devote on here as I have. For the first year or so I was a member, I hardly posted at all due to lack of time and that is occuring again. But for anyone reading this, this is the best forum on the internet for good advice but it may not always be accurate. The best source is always your own attorney for your own particular situation.

Sorry to hear that, although it's understandable; I like your common sense and your willingness to share your experiences....you've been very helpful to me. Good luck to you

I'd like to say I stick around to help others, but it's for myself mostly. I imagine I'll slowly wean off (just like I did with my quit smoking forum). Sometimes as I'm writing, I wonder why I'm still around post-discharge. This is a fabulous forum though and I like to jump in and comment on situations like mine.

Your name on here is so familiar to me since I found this forum. Your right, this forum is the best thing on the net if your in a BK.

I have appreciated all your post and feel you are very knowledgeable when it comes to BK. I totally do understand getting busy and not having all the time for this forum. At one time I was a yahoo chat addict, now, I don't even remember my password, then eBay, now I can't remember my last time on there. Life just gets so busy sometimes.

                  Thanks for all your help!

If any of you on here have watched "West Wing" in the past, you will know what "Flamingo" stands for.....I kinda got stuck with that name by close friends - LOL! I will stick around here as often as I can but I just may not be able to post as much in the months to come. I enjoy the different personalities on here and all the various insights. The present economy and everyone struggling now no matter who you are takes me back to the stuggles I went through during the year following my hubby's job loss. Well, I should really do a blog about all that because so many folks are losing jobs now...the key is being able to recover in a certain period of time.

At the time of our filing, there were horrid BK forums because there was not a lot of experienced folks out there - just old bill collectors who hated anyone who filed BK and would call any poster any name in the book if they posted. I quit doing anything online when we got bad advice about utilizing savings trying not to file. That's probably why I hang around here...to make sure what happened to me doesn't happen to others. We got burned bad by listening to bad advice in a former forum.
