Hi, I am hoping someone out there can help. I am seriously considering filing for bankruptcy before the October deadline. In fact I was going to call and make an appointment to see a petition preparer service to help me file it.
I am currently on Social Security Disability of only $644 per month. I have no car, house or any large assets. All of my debts are just credit card of about $22,000 and medical bills of $1300.
What really gets me is I just went to a casino earlier this evening and won $1379.00 on a penny progressive slot machine. They made me sign a W-2G form for federal taxes.
My question is if I decide to go ahead and file my chatper 7 and pay the preparer their fee will I have to tell them about this money I just won & put it down in the petition? Or would it possibly be exempt? I live in Las Vegas, NV.
Figures I would just finally hit a small jackpot and I may end up having to give it all to my creditors in bankruptcy????
Please help..Any advice would be appreicated. Thanks, Michael
