I want to thank eveyone for the advice, here another one: I have a degree and am wanting to get my Masters (I cant find a job wth a BS) and my husband wants to get certified in something. My lawyer says that BK wont effect getting Grants, but one of the schools said it might. Does anyone know the answer?

Wish I could help you, but don't have an answer for you. May HHM or Todd can offer some input on this subject.
Hope it doesn't affect your being able to get grants... stay in school if you can....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

Stay in school
I wouldn't think it would hurt your chances of getting a Pell Grant. You have to sign a promissary note and it's not dischargeable (is that spelt right?) in the courts.
Something I learned from my little ventures in college - is that the departmental offices usually have scholarships available when you're enrolled. Turns out that at the college I attended no one ever applied for them - three went unapplied for and one had only two applicants. The unapplied ones were worth $500 each and the one that had the applicants was for $1,000. I have a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication which is a HUGE program at my school and one in a smaller department that had a similiar situation. I'm sure you've also probably checked out fastweb.com, but there are a ton of scholarships there as well. Hey - it's free money
Maybe that will help out as well. And good for you on going to get your masters!
