It's a designation on credit reports that shows an account was Included In Bankruptcy - IIB. There is no abbreviation IIBI that I'm aware of.

It's a good idea that's been discussed before. However, there are two reasons it hasn't been done:

    (1) Many of the abbreviations used here aren't related to bankruptcy. They are from online instant and text messaging and their meanings can already be looked up in many places online - for example, DH for Dear Husband or LOL for laughing out loud.

    (2) The abbreviations would be a sticky in only one forum area. It won't do any good if you are in another forum area and want to refer to it and it's a lot to ask our four volunteer mods to keep ten identical stickies up to date and in synch all the time.

That's why we haven't created an abbreviation list up to now.

In case you weren't aware, there are several online resources that do a good job of defining frequently used bankruptcy terms (including some abbreviations):

HTH! (which means hope this helps )

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

    06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
    06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
    07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

    10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

...How 'bout one sticky containing the abbreviations, and nine stickies including only a link to the first one?
