    Help getting place to rent?

I am hoping that someone here can help me out. I almost discharged from my bankruptcy. I am currently looking for an apartment, me and my gf. Well we went to look at a couple places, and they want to do a credit check. I told them that i have recently went into bankruptcy and that I should be discharged shortly. There is certain requirements they want, and well they said that it might be a problem with my recent bankruptcy, and to put my gf. My gf has been at her work for 2 years, and is currently renting for 2 years also, the only thing is that she doesnt have a social. I currently have a job been there for over a year, and living with my parents currently, and have that bankruptcy. They want us to put application seperately. My question is, can we put both our names in to run all those checks they do, they charge 35 dollars for each thats 70 total. Anyways I was wondering can I put here in somehow, but without the need of a social, or how can I work around this. Any help would be appreciated please. thx

First of all - how is your gf working without a SS #? How "recent" was your bankruptcy? If a Chapter 7 has it been discharged yet? Are there any other bad marks on your CR? If there are no other bad marks, a discharged bankruptcy would/should be considered a positive item as you now are free of debt. It is mainly crooked creditors like Citi, Chase, B of A, and Wells Fargo who consider former bankrupts as scum.

You don't need a ss# to work if you have a corporation. She can work for herself doing business as....small corporation.
If you really want that place and that is the only option....
Did you explain to them that your girlfriend does not have ss?
      How about a TIN #?

Using a EIN/TIN as your SS is against the law.

I, too, am curious about the SS issue, but as far as your question goes... You can apply and ask if there is anyway they'll work with you, such as double security deposit or first and last month's rent, most places will if you don't have a past eviction. Bankruptcy is not a dealbreaker for most apartment management companies.

She has a visa passport, and does have a tin. She just doesnt have a ss. Will see if they are willing to work with us, cause this is the best place for us. Thx for the advice, will talk with them and see if they are willing.

Chances are they won't take the TIN/EIN because they want to do a credit check with a SS number.

Have you thought about renting a townhouse or house with a private landlord? They are more apt to rent to you if you have a job than a complex.
