    Unprofessional?

I have been calling around today to set up some consultations. One lawyer I talked to asked me some questions. When he asked how much I owe I told him ($75000 cc) and he said "oh my lord". I thought that was very unprofessional of him and it turned me off big time. I don't think I will even go to the consult. What do you guys think?

I have 481k in cc and my Lawyer was like ok we will deal with it. If he sounded suprised he probably doesn't have much experience with big #"s, if it were me I would find someone who is more qualified.

I agree with the previous post, that comment tells me he doesn't have experience with large debts. One of lawyers we consulted with made a similar comment when I gave him our number of $125k in cc debt.

When I told my attorney that there was approximately $100k in unsecured joint debt he looked at me and said, "Did you think I would be shocked by that? I'm not." That was very reassuring to me because I was certainly shocked and disgusted by it!! I think it was very unprofessional of the attorney to say "oh my Lord" when you told him how much debt you have. Go somewhere else and don't look back!

If you have a bad feeling about a lawyer best to move on and check the next one out is my opinion

This is what I was going to say. If you have any doubts at all, then I wouldn't even bother with the consultation. There were a few attorneys that I canceled on because I didn't like the initial impression they left on me when I first contacted them over the phone.

The first firm that I met with felt so wrong to me that every fiber of my being was screaming, "NO! NO! NO!" the whole time I was there. I left their office and never spoke to them again. I have no doubt that I made the right choice. If it feels wrong, then it probably is.
