Hello, I am new to this forum and already ive found it very helpful. I am currently residing in California and me & my husband are about to file for chapter 7 bk. Monday to be exact. I already have all of my paperwork together. My question is: What do they need your tax return for? The reason im asking is because my husband and i have been married for the past 3 years, but seperated for the most part of it. 2 1/2 years to be exact, which is what caused this financial hardship. He was living in Texas and i was living in CA. We have since then, reconciled and are seeking marraige counseling. On my tax return my tax guy had me file "single" because we were geographically separated for more than 6 months and have never filed joint, but now that they are reviewing this, i dont know if this will be an issue. Can anyone give me any information regarding this? And will i be held liable? Or the person i paid to do my taxes? Thank you.

I don’t believe you have a problem. The Truth will tell all. Both of you carry your tax returns to your lawyer if you are using one, and all they wish is to know what your income is for legal reasons. I am pleased you are both getting it together. You are in the right place for NON-LEGAL advice and inspiration. ‘HubIf I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
