Atty fees and when they are due

Do you generally pay your atty fees the day you fill out the paperwork? The bulk of our fees will be paid over the course of our bk but there is an upfront fee of about $525. When should I expect to have that money?

I would expect to pay it prior to your attorney beginning work on your case.

I first contacted an attorney in June at which time she charged me half of her fees, and paid the other half one day before filing in July.

I retained my attorney for a down payment of $1,000 and the rest is due in payments. I wanted to file this summer, but haven't had the extra $$ to pay off my attorney, so the our file date is pushed back...I hope to file by the end of this year

I have to pay everything up front. $1500 for the attorney fee and then $299 to file. So far I have paid $1400 for the attorney....getting so close. Should have everything paid for by the middle of next month!

I paid 300 retainer, then I paid 450.00 as a final payment. Then I paid the 299.00 filing fee.

For chapter 7, attorney's must be paid in full before the case is filed.

For a chapter 13, some attorney's will have you pay some amount up front and collect the rest through the chapter 13 payment plan. Others will require full payment up front.
