First of all read alot on this forum - including the bankruptcy manual. Go to FAQs to learn about exemptions, steps etc. and post any questions that you have here and we help!
The first thing you need to do is decide whether or not it will be chapter 7 or 13. Draw out a list of your monthly expenses (there's a STICKY on here that can help you) minus any unsecured debt (because you won't have it anymore). If your disposable income is $100 or more you will need to file 13, if it's under you'll need to file 7.
Alot of people have had success with form7.com (almost positive that's the web - again, you can do a search on the home page for form7), think about using it to help you out. Whittio has had a pretty easy time with it, check out her posts.
Take a deep breath, get informed and get going - laws change on Oct 17.

Just a Reminder!!!
If you file yourself and then you have problems later, most lawyers will "not" step in and take over your case.....
Wouldn't hurt to do your paper work then have a paralegal look it over (their cheap).....before you file...
Food for thought,

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
