    Case Closed!

Finally, the last Chapter! My case finally closed this week! Looked on line and there it was after nearly one year! The discharge was a great feeling, the closing also gave us a wonderful sense that it's over. The "mopup" began over the summer, but this "closed" issue always nagged at me. Oh, what a feeling. NEVER AGAIN!

No more "let me transfer you our Asset resolutions department" when I call GMAC or the Mortgage Company, even though these were never late and were reaffirmed! We can go on!

I have already made some headway regarding credit issues. One or two creditors (I forget right now) were actually removed for lack of response. Don't challenge your report of Bankruptcy right off, you will be "Red Flagged" by that CRA. Try to get the information reported accurately. You want everything to show the last update during the month you filed BK. I've posted a self help book link in the "Rebuilding Credit" section of this forum. Use it BEFORE you consider a so called "Credit Repair Agency". They are generally a farce. No emails or posts please on how your Credit Repair Agency is an honest one, I'm not going to be a customer. Time and correction will boost your score, the only other way to do it is to out and out LIE.

I'll keep posting on my experience with Credit Issues. Also recommend the book "The Two Income Trap". I forget the Author's name. I contacted her online and got very nice responses and was even asked about being interviewed by the Kerry Campaign (I vote straight Republican, but would have done it to help families, no politics in this forum please, I'm not interested).

I can testify that you will get through a worse case scenario alive. Remember, Home and possibly one new vehicle ONLY. One CC for emergencies witha $2500.00 limit. MY RULE FOR LIFE.

    robivi3, congratulations!!!!

Many of us here know very well the pain and stress involved in being in a bankruptcy process. And the way tons of weight comes off your shoulders after the case gets closed. In some cases, there are more things involved, so these feelings and stress is more amplified, in other cases it doesn't have that high of a bearing on you.

In either case, congratulations, and we hope you will stick around for next phase -- which is rebuilding credit. ..... contacting all the creditors and fighting to get them to report the correct info, and so forth.

      Thank you Lazar,
We did have a small, VERY SMALL, business on the side. It was assumed that we had hidden something. I was very honest in my schedules but the the trustee has a job to do and so we had depos, hearings and the whole nine yards. Up to the last minute threats. We told him what we could pay and he dropped the case at the last second.

A little overtime came my way and pulled us way ahead of a "Motion for Relief From Stay" by Chase Mtg. We had never been late on the mortgage but ran into some home and Truck repairs in the middle of this Bankruptcy and missed one, ONLY ONE, deadline and Chase jumped on it, refused a payment because of the Motion causing us to be 30 days late, it was a scramble to get one office to call the other and connect which they did finally (they took it off of our Credit Report also, the payment was late for the first, we weren't even allowed the grace period, NEVER EVER LATE BEFORE). If anyone has this problem with Chase I can tell them to call every department they can find. They don't connect by nature believe me. Chase will rip you apart like rabid dogs if you are late during a Bankruptcy.

I was blessed with a very good Attorney whom I have no trouble recommending to anyone in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach Counties, Florida. He is a very down to earth, family oriented man. We struggled to pay him but it was worth it.

If anyone is looking for representation in these Counties please send me a private message via this forum, I am not sure it would be good to post his link in an open area.

Thank you again for the note. I am going the thoroughly honest route to get my credit as clear as possible. For this reason I will post my experiences in the "Rebuilding Credit" area of this forum, it will take time. My sons seem to have learned from these mistakes. They are very frugal. Two of them are working and already have bank Accounts. I am fortunate in that I've had the same two Bank Accounts for 22 years so I'm not having to reestablish those relationships and oddly enough the same Branch managers in all that time.
