    How important are Hud-1 statements?

I can't track down most Hud-1 statements from the previous homes I've bought/sold within the last 10 years. I have maybe 1 statement. What to do? Lawyer not answering my emails. I'm trying to send in the preliminary paperwork.

Most of the time the title company keeps a copy of the HUD-1 for many years. In fact for at least the last 7 yrs or so most of the title companies in our area charge a 'electronic document storage fee' so they can keep them longer. Contact the title company or attorney's office where you had your closing.

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

Do you remember the real estate agent? We usually keep a copy too for many years.

Just his first name. I don't even remember the company he worked for. I shredded the paperwork thinking i'd never need it. I don't even know why the lawyer needs it. It's 7 years ago and sold.

I had to provide the HUD-1's to each transaction for the 10 yrs leading to my filing date too. Maybe the attorney/trustee will accept a copy of the deed (avail online) and whatever you have in your file. Ask him.

Well no luck so far. I take it they still want even if the homes were sold...
