The question isn't so much about store accounts, but secured debts. Some store accounts do setup the credit obligation as a secured debt. It will depend on the credit agreement.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

Since you suggested that anything less than 2 1/2 yrs old should have it replacement cost listed, what should I list mine? Computers are more powerful and have more things on them today than they did 4 yrs ago. For the $$ I spent then I could get a computer 3x the speed, hard drive, etc. Just curious. I would fix these things, but I would hate to have Sears try to take it or would they bother?

A 4 year old comp is basically obsolete and essentially worthless. You can buy a 400$ pc at walmart which will have 5X the speed and resources. So its worth 100 or less most of it being the monitor. Go look at what they sell for on ebay that old lol. Nobody will even buy them.

i agree, crash or no crash, its still worth very little. under $200 max. like filingonmyown said - you can get them for with a monitor and a printer after rebates for $300 at best buy and circuit city.

I have been doing a lot of "shopping" lately. Getting out and looking at prices of things so I know how to budget for the things that we purchase but don't track.

Yesterday, at Walmart, I saw a brand new 27" flat screen TV for less than $200. We paid over $800 for ours when we bought it years ago. Prices for many electronics have come down greatly in the last couple years or so. Dell runs commercials on TV all the time for complete desktops in the $300 and $400 range.
