    How many consultations?

How many attorney's have you met with before you found the one you went with?

I keep talking to these guys on the phone and they all demand I sit down with them in person.

When I meet with them they just jump to conclusions, and don't listen to a word I say.

Every time I meet with them I have to take off work. My company is going to be wise to my problems soon if I have to keep taking days off to meet with attorneys, not to mention losing my job wasting time meeting with them.

I met with 5 and decided on the 5th one. I kept going until I got one I liked and would file a Chapter 7 since I make slightly over the median income. I learned something new with each attorney but I will admit it was time consuming and VERY frustrating. Some attorneys gave me the feeling they didnt want to fool with the new laws and others made it out to be no big deal. I know exactly how you feel b/c I was taking off of work too and dont forget you will have to get time off for the 341. I was ready to file with the 4th attorney I met with and filled out everything just had to sign a few papers but when I went in for the signing they were having a Christmas party and left me waiting for over an hour and then he told me he left my paper work at another office and could I come back. I was FURIOUS so I dropped him and let him know about it. I even showed him the check. I did feel like giving up but I kept looking and found one cheaper and exactly what I was looking for.

Keep looking for an attorney that listens to you and is willing to work with you because after they get your $$$ it only gets worse.

I ended up meeting with 5. Seemed like the more they had advertisements, the worse they were. I finally found one by finding out who the trustees were for my district and scheduling a meeting with one of them.

          We met with 7.

We've recently moved and fell into the "I don't wanna mess with out of state exemptions" comments from attnys. So that became a preface question in setting up Consults.

The 4th attny we met with, we really liked. Thought she would do a good job for us. Was all set to retain her when she backed out. Said she was too busy to mess with outa state exemptions. We should look for another attny who was less busy and had more time for us.

Hubby was in the same spot as you. We only had one evening appt. Rest of the appts have all been afternoons. They schedule so early in the afternoon that Hubby winds up having to take a half day off work.

One of the Consults was a 2 part phone Consult. First with the para legal and then with the attny. We got about an hour with each one during each phone call. It was just odd that he didn't wanna meet us face to face. He said, "When you get your taxes done and decide what you wanna do, just bring your stuff into the office and we'll get started."

We had a couple more really bad Consults and then hit on the guy we've decided to go with. Now we're in Breach on our house and facing Foreclosure. So we retained this guy to handle that for us while we prepped our BK stuff for him. We're trying to time our filing.

The attny's had our Breach paperwork about 3.5 weeks now and done nothing. He ordered our Title work and got a copy of the offer to purchase faxed to him by our Realtor. Since then, NADA!! I've called a couple times and got the, "He's been in Court all day." or "He was in Court all day yesterday." spiel.

I'm afraid we're gonna have to kiss that $350 retainer Good Bye and go for more Consults.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

I signed on with the first one I talked to. I can get evening appointments, even Saturdays...the guy works all the time. If he can't see me then one of his girls will sit and answer my questions. They really put me at ease...love them! They work around my schedule and that really helps. They even let me call whenever to ask anything I want. Hopefully the final meeting with them will be this Monday and then we can file...can't wait to get this over with. I will be sending them a ton of flowers when this is all over with!
