D&B is for business not personal unless you were operating as a sole proprietor. Then again it's still for business BK not personal. The other thing is that a whole lot of business flies under the D&B radar. I mean we operated a S Corp; brick & mortar retail establishment. While some of the major suppliers were publicly traded companies; the majority of the suppliers were privately held companies - point is the entire industry really isn't reported on by D&B - this would include all Hallmark stores and general gift stores. One on every corner shopping center. There all small but together they really are a big piece of retail marketplace.

      sole proprietor

I am a sole proprietor and they got me on D&Bs report. It is pushing me over the edge if all my vendors go COD my business is going to hurt. Is there a creative way to change the company information and remove the bk from D&Bs report?

What would your legal rationale be for having your BK removed from D&B?
The information provided is not, and should not be considered legal advice. All information provided is only informational and should be verified by a law practioner whenever possible. When confronted with legal issues contact an experienced attorney in your state who specializes in the area of law most directly called into question by your particular situation.

          Ending up COD

          To Todd

My customers pay net 30 to 60 days. If all my vendors goto COD terms then it is going to be harder to run a basic business with every transaction needing a check writen or cash given. Right now all my small venders are COD and I have a few vendors that give me 15 to 30 days to pay i would like to keep the few i have.

A bk on my D&B will do 2 things
First it will effect the company terms, this will slow down incoming inventory. If a check is needed to be mailed before they will ship me anything.
Second customers or comperters could get a copy of the D&B report and use it in a way that may hurt my business. I was just at a trade show and someone in the booth said "You can do business with my competer but before you do check their D&B to see if they are solid" The salesman would problely have e-mail it to them if they asked.

Just trying to cover my business asset. I filed personal bk and did not pay any attention to what that would do to my business credit.

D&B will allow anyone to access it's information (via web now) by signing up for a yearly fee and that includes yourself to check on yourself as a sole proprietor. If you're signed up then you can check what their records say about you and challenge anything untrue but that's the key it has to be a false record. I understand completely your need for net30 and cashflow management in a business.

I think Todd was asking what your legal justification would be for removal, you certainly have "practical" reasons, but if its true information, there really isn't much you can do.
