Can I list these type of contracts on the creditors list, in order to get out of the contracts? If not, how do I break these contracts? I will be filing for Chapter 7.

Yes, not only can you list them, you actually have to list them. If you chose not to continue paying them and you receive a discharge you will not be responsible for the debt.Originally posted by philnkCan I list these type of contracts on the creditors list, in order to get out of the contracts? Yepper!!
As Time said, you have to list any contracts or leases.
But you can also use your BK to cancel any contracts or leases, AND the debt that might be associated with early cancellation.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

In my case, my cell phone contract runs thru the end of December this year. For me to cancel my contract, I'd have to pay a $200/line early cancellation fee. With 5 lines, that's $1000.
If I were looking to dump my cell phone carrier and move elsewhere, I could include that contract in my BK and the $1000 as well.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

Keeping the cell phone service
I have T-Mobile, but I don't want to get rid of the service. I know that it should be listed under leases and contracts, but since I am keeping it I don't need to list it under Schedule F right because I am not trying to discharge the service, I'm only listing it because its required.

I think that would be the case SoBB.
You list it because it's a debt obligation of sorts. But you don't put it with the group you're looking to discharge.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
