Experian BK dates on Credit Report question

I have a question regarding disputing BK dates. I filed 10-05-05. I received my 1st discharge 1-18-06 and my 2nd discharge 4-11-2006 (another story!).

    1. Experian reports in Public Records, BK filed Oct 2005, date resolved Jan 2006. Lists BK CT San Bernardino, CA. There is no BK court in San Bernardino. I filed BK in Riverside, CA. Should I dispute, I do not have a BK filed in San Bernardino, CA, in hopes it might get removed?

    2. EX reports 10 BK accounts with individual creditors, Filed Ch 7 Bankruptcy with dates varying from April 1, 2005 through January 29, 2006. Should I dispute each one of these since the dates indicated do not read 10-5-2005?

    3. I also have three accounts that are listed as charge-off. One May 2003, one July 2003 and one showing charge-off May 2003-May 2004. Should I leave those alone as they will drop-off reports in 2010 or request them to be changed to IIB? Is it better for them to show up as IIB even though it will take longer for them to drop off?

Thanks for any insight on this. It has me a little confused how to approach disputing them. Just starting out on trying to repair credit reports.

You can dispute anything that is not accurate. On #3, that is a good question, my gut instinct is to let it alone and let it go away in 2010 instead of 2016 as it is now. Perhaps someone more in tune with FICO scores can pipe in here and give a good answer.

Thanks for the reply. I will watch the thread and see if anyone else replies to #3. Meanwhile, I will leave those three alone.

Any suggestions on submitting disputes ie, should I dispute #1 and wait for a reply on that one before disputing the items in #2?

Or should I do it the other way around and dispute #2 first? Wait for those replies before disputing #1.

If I should dispute #2 first, should I dispute all 10 at once or split them up and do five at a time?

      Thanks for your help.

On #1, it isn't necessarily where you file BK in your state, it is where the Federal Bk Court that is responsible for overseeing your case is. You may actually attend court somewhere else in a satellite courthouse. The link below will tell you where the federal bk court is for your part of the state: I think you'll find San Bernadino is the location for the federal bk court in the central part of the state. http://www.lawdog.com/bkrcy/bkk5.htm
Sorry on that one, but don't think you'll have much luck getting it taken off.

I'd agree with Aa on that one.

We're in the same situation here. We have a BK Court in our town, but it's an extension of the main BK Court in another city over 100 miles away.

In the Northern District of IN, there are 2 or 3, can't remember which, main BK Courts. So even tho we file here in town, and go thru the process here in town, our BK will be recorded by the US Trustee's office thru the main BK Court in the other town our Court reports to.

          Closed - 04/2007

On #2, I would file a separate challange for each one of the creditors seperatly. They should report accruatly the date you filed so that the creditors all fall off the same time. I understand you can do that with Experien pretty easy on line. You should also check with the other major credit bureaus to see what they are reporting. These companies do not talk to each other, so fixing one credit report still leaves 2 hanging in the wind.

Thanks for the replies. If you follow the links on lawdog, you will see the Federal BK court for the Central District is in Riverside. I filed in Riverside, did my 341 meeting in Riverside and that is one of the courts that is accessed through PACER for the Central District. I do not know why lawdog is showing a link for San Bernardino? I do live in San Bernardino County, but San Bernardino County (huge county) is serviced by the Riverside County Bankruptcy Court.

Does that put a different light on my trying to dispute that #1 entry?

I saw where EX has an on-line link for disputes, I will try that approach individually for each of the ten items in #2.

Can either of you clarify for me that I am reading the EX report correctly, when I assume the "Date of Status" is the same as DOLA?

I have all three CRA hard copies which I sent for in February 2006. I have just started with Experian first and then I will go on to tackle the other two.
I have been waiting to receive my second discharge which I received on 4-11-06 to get started.

              Thanks,
              Cathy
