I filed chap. 7 and have not got my discharge yet. My dad has a credit card and decided to get another card under my name in his acct. My dad is not in the best medical condition and is now in the hospital. would i be liable for the credit card if my dad past away?

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see how you can be held liable for something that you did not agree to. If you did not sign anything applying for this joint credit account, then I don't really understand how your dad managed to get your name on it.

If you are a co-owner, you are responsible. If you are just an "authorized user", then you are not liable for the debt. If your dad just requested a card be sent for you and you didn't sign anything, then most likely, you are just an authorized user.Comment
