Question about business bankruptcy

Hello, new here. Wanted to know if I could get a little bit of information on this issue. Well, I'm not filing nor have I filed bankruptcy but was dealing with a company that had filed after I had purchased a special order item from them. After some time went by I had contacted them because I had not yet recieved the item. Long story short...they gave me the run around about why they haven't shipped the item and then after I requested a refund, they refused. I decided to start with the BBB and compain about their terrible service, that is when I was told that the company had filed bankruptcy....not once was I notified about this. By law would I be entitled to a refund or would I be treated as a creditor? Any adivce would be greatly appreciated.

Jblood, our expertise here is on the consumer side of bankruptcy, not business bankruptcy. However, if I understand this right, you would have had to file a claim against the company within a certain time frame. Even then, your chance of getting more than a very small % of your money back is unlikely. Sorry I can't be of more help - hopefully one of our business owner personal filers may have more knowledge about this.

There's a decent bk forum at www.lawyers.com that has several good bk lawyers following it. They answer business bk questions like yours sometimes - it's worth a try. Good luck - hope you find a way to get at least a little of your money back.
