    Jobs after Chapter 7?

I heard that most reputable companies run a credit check and a bk will be a hindrance for getting future jobs.

The company I am working at is having some personnel change. I was able to get in because I knew somebody in there, and that person has just retired and moved away, out-of-state.

Nobody, including him, knows I have filed for bk.

I think that temporary agencies also checks for bk too. What should I do? I know my days in this job is numbered, and will have to prepare very soon.

From others who have posted here, the two times bk can affect your potential to get a new job is when the job is in finance or when the job requires a security clearance. Otherwise, it's hit and miss depending on how the business feels overall about bk. It isn't a death sentence for a new job, so unless your current job has something to do with money or security, it's premature to say your days are numbered there. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens. We're here for support and encouragement any time you need it.

On the job I am working now, nobody knows. So I was ok as long as I worked in that place.

But this place is having some personnel change and so my days at here is numbered, so I have to be looking for a job.

My job is mostly bookkeeping, although I don't handle cash directly. I learned bookkeeping long after my finances had hit the iceberg.

        Cana,

You said they are making personnel changes is that why you feel they are going to run your credit? because it seems if there is nothing questionable that should not even be an issue since you are already in.

That is right. I will have to change my jobs in near future.

Again, nobody who knows me knows I filed for bk, and I may need their help to get a new job; I am afraid that they may change their opinion on me when they find out that I had filed.

The law states that employers can't discriminate against you because of BK. When applying for employment, ask the employer if they run credit checks on applicants....and what thier policy is regarding its outcome.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think an employer can arbitrarily run a credit check on one of it's employees. Wouldn't they need some sort of written permission before they could do that.
