what scares me is if Obama gets elected president and with the Democrats having a majority in the Congress that they'll push through more social programs ( National Health care, etc) that it will push this country deeper into debt..

Yes I'm afraid of that myself.

With a debt of already over 9 trillion dollars and unfunded entitlements to the tune of over 53 trillion dollars going forward over the next 30 years, the last thing we need is more spending. They need to cut spending and reduce the size of the federal government.

The bailout isn't going to work either. If Obama wins and the D remain in control of both houses then I suspect in 2010 we'll see the house and senate flip to the R.

I hope they both shoot themselves in the foot. What would be even better is for in 2010 another party to take control of the house.

I completely agree with the point that if Obama wins (and it looks like he will) then our federal deficit will easily hit 1 trillion. The problem with most average people is when you get a number as high as 1 trillion they can't even fathom that number. They have nothing to put into perspective against.
