Looking over the details, it appears they followed Sen. Corker's outline. I'm sure the UAW will not like that provision on workers pay.....by 12/31/2009.

Up until a couple of months ago I worked for an auto supplier and last Friday they cut salaries 10% across the board. They are also going to have to layoff 10% of personnel in the US. The UAW should make some concessions. Everyone else is.

i worked at a ford plant for a short time about 40 years ago, 90% of the jobs required the ability to turn and tighten bolts, THATS ALL. you didnt even have to know how to LOOSEN them..something a chimpanzee could be trained to do for a LOT less than 70 buck a hour including benefits. if you ever owned a American car from the 60s and 70s you probably know the quality of the cars then, POOR, i dont think much has changed since then quality wise. the first day on the job, my instructor told me which bolts to skip, if i couldnt keep up with assembly line. that wouldnt be missed or caught. i imagine everyone had the same lecture on skipping bolts. thus the quality of the cars then.

Robots can turn on bolts & nuts too. Let lay off all the manufacturing robots.
