Gambling convict plead guilty in bankruptcy case

PHILADELPHIA An Allentown businessman who's already facing 15 months in prison in a gambling case now faces additional time for bankruptcy fraud.

George Atiyeh pleaded guilty yesterday to embezzling about 280-thousand from his real estate business when the assets were supposed to be under the control of a bankruptcy court.

The former football and wrestling standout -- already convicted of running an illegal bookmaking operation -- says he admits it when he does something wrong. He entered the plea the day his trial was to start.

Authorities say Atiyeh is likely to face a prison term of at least a year on the fraud charge.
