Found this article on line tonight. Wonder when/if credit card companies will realize the high interest rates and universal default rates will drive more and more over the brink...fewer and fewer will be having the "means" as in home equity and "disposable income" with increasing gas costs to pay them back, even in a chap 13.

If you need to go to the doctor now because of pressing health problems, make an appointment for the earliest they can get you in, then ask to speak to the office financial manager. Explain you are just coming out of bankruptcy (or are having serious financial problems if you don't want to tell about bk) and would like to arrange a reasonable payment plan ahead of time Most doctors' offices will help out if they understand you are having financial problems and are willing to meet them halfway.
If your doctor visit can wait a little while longer, make your appointment for several months from now and ask for an estimate of how much a typical office visit plus lab work might be. Hopefully by then without your prior heavy unsecured debt load weighing you down, you can save enough to make the payment outright at the visit.
If you have health insurance, the strategy is the same - you will just pay less out of pocket.
PLEASE don't put off visiting your doctor if you are having serious health problems that need immediate attention - the bills will be much higher if you have to be hospitalized. Hope all goes well - let us know what you decide to do. Good luck!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Why did they send you a check? Can you sign it over to someone else and get cash?Originally posted by aa06a47I've been in BK for 3 months now and just got a $1200 check from Wells Fargo....all I had to do was cash it....talk about stupid credit card companies.
