I'm gonna cry, can't seem to find homeowners insurance now

I'm being dropped by Allstate on Feb. 3rd because they want to 'lower there liability's in high risk areas. I'm 60 miles north of the coast. Anyways, my bankruptcy seems to be stopping anyone from pickin me up. What am I gonna do?!?!?!?!?! This can't be happening!

Maybe you should google bankruptcy friendly insurers? Wouldn't the state pool have to take you?

This may not always be the case, but our mortgage company found us our insurance when ours dropped us due to filing a claim. They said it was in their best interest to get us insured so nothing happened tht would make us default on the loan.

Doesn't Ala. have State Insurance like Citizens in Florida? We've been going through this since 1992. I feel for you, Alabama doesn't have Florida's financial clout or the strusture in place to handle this yet.

Just got off the phone with an awesome agent. They do have a state insurance pool in Alabama. The policy is even a tad cheaper than my old one I had with Allstate. LOL! The only thing this policy doesn't have is protection from burglery (wierd). Everything else is covered, any damage from wind, fire, hail, lightning, etc. Even have personal belongings covered in these events too. But not in a burglery. Oh well, we have a big viscious dog: a Boston Terrier LMAO!!! She'll protect the home when we're gone.

Are you still living in the home??? If so, chances of burglary are very slim.................
At least you will be protected from all the elements and accidents.......

Now if the home is empty...... you could have a problem with them breaking in and doing damage to the premises..... Lets hope not......

              Good luck

Well, we went a whole year without insurance, but it had nothing to do with bk. Well, actually it did. Our old insurance co dropped us because our house was too old. Allstate wouldn't insure because it said our outbuildings needed new roofs ( geesh I am not going to reroof a standalone garage that is leaning to the left and is not used for cars, only for animal housing.) Oh, and they said we had to paint our siding, because the old paint was peeling. Then another insurance company declined to insure us because we had asbestos siding. Of course, being in ch 13, we had no money to fix these things. So after exhausting our resources, we finally gave up. A year later, WaMu finally figured out we had no insurance and put their own on us. It was only 150 more than we had been paying. But it was crappy. The way it read, I think they would have paid off the mortgage, but not much else.
Now we are with WellsFargo. Their insurance was EXPENSIVE, like double what we had with WaMu. But, it is for replacement value of our home. IOW, if our home was destroyed by fire, or nature, they would pay to have a comparable home rebuilt.

                    Jason,
If your covered for everything except burglery, than that is a good thing...............
And with you living in the home, chances of someone breaking in and doing a lot of damage is slim (I hope)......
No matter what it cost, you HAVE TO HAVE insurance on the home or your mortgage company will SCREAM BLOODY MURDER!!!
If they say anything, tell them to "find me a company"............

But sounds like you'll be okay now........

Ahhhh, life has it's pitfalls, doesn't it.......

Yep, my home is protected by TWO (lick you to death) DOGS!!!!!!
