I noted that too. It could be a good reason the site goes down too many times. You can put a site anywhere, the Internet does not care. One advantage to overseas is our laws cannot harm the owners as the server provider is not in this country. It protects the owner from some idiot makeing a malicious tort situation for the owners. No one in their right mind would publicly list their name as the owner of a site for many reasons and sites go down for many reasons. As a site grows, the traffic might be too much for the server, etc.

Although informational, forums are started to make money. The goal is to increase your traffic to attract advertisers. When traffic to a site increases, salepeople are sent out to drum up business related advertisers or the owner might prospect for business him/herself. The more traffic you have, the more money you can demand.

At the end of the day, you want your traffic number so high that someone will come along and offer you millions of dollars. Do they love your site? No, they want your traffic.

If you are really interested in this kind of thing, you can go to alexa.com and put in a website and it will tell you where the site ranks as far as traffic. Although not exact, it gives you a good indication of how a website is growing.

Actually....it's a requirement of ICANN that all information listed in the WhoIs be accurate and current. Domain owners are required to supply a valid email contact address.

This is how people end up losing their domains, by supplying invalid email addresses.

What domain registrar handled the domain name registration and who hosts the site/server (ThePlanet) are 2 separate issues.
