    Where can I buy gold?

Okay I cant afford it right now. I realize that. However, next October our bankruptcy plan should be complete. That leaves almost $200 a week that we are currently living without. So I am thinking that I might like having a little bit of gold in a safety deposit box along with having an emergency fund in savings. Where can I buy gold at? Is silver or platinum a good idea?

I am sure you can find a gold broker in the phone book. Find one where you can purchase ingots of gold, then you will know you are not being screwed. If there is a dental lab in your area (the place they make crowns, bridges, etc.) they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Make sure and read up all the information you can get and do alot of research on gold. Alot of people beleive it's a good investment but just like anything prices can fluctuate very quickly!

My reply, is based on what a co-worker has done and continues to do to this day.

        Don't buy gold/silver bullion.

Buy old coins with high mintage. The french 20 franc is a good example. Solid gold, but it's value is more for the gold, then the antiquity.

Silver dimes/quarters/dollars. Again, high mintage and the type that's just readable.

Usually the coin stores with have a basket with the coins loose in it. These are just "Worthless" except for their silver content.

This comes down to using them later (If need be) to purchase/trade them for something you need.
