How much water do you use per day?

Answer the questions and you will know about how much water you use.

My bathroom sink is plugged so I had to use a basin in it for the day until I can get to take the pipe apart. I was brushing my teeth and filled up the basin once. I would have guessed I use about 16 oz of water brushing my teeth but this proved I used about one gallon of water everytime I brush my teeth. This means I do not leave the water running while brushing, but only turn it on to rinse my mouth & the toothbrush.

I am spoiled and if I had to carry the 125 gallons of water I use every day back to the house, I am sure I would no longer be using as much water as I do. This total does not inlude all the water used in the summer time in the gardens.

How many gallons of water do you use every day?

Hmmm, I have no idea. We're on a well, so I don't even know how many units we use monthly or anything. I'm sure we use a LOT of water. Both my kids love to take baths every now and then instead of taking showers. I'd almost hate to know how much water we use on a daily/weekly basis. We have replaced our washer with a front load and our dishwasher is new too. Not sure if new dishwashers use a lot less water or not.

My water bill was really weird last month. It's $6.05!?

The meter says I used 0 gallons of water all of Nov. How can that be??

Maybe someone was just lazy and didn't bother to come out to record the meter reading.

I hope this doesn't bite me on the backside next month!

I get that once in a while ever since we put a commercial meter on it and that caused the needle to either not move or to jump ahead a lot. And there are times that no one actually reads it and they take an average because I called them once about that.

I would like to have a well again. Your front load washer definatley cuts back on water usage I can garantee. I take baths instead of showes quite often because I can enjoy soaking in the water longer but it does use more.

Is your well sweet? Do you have to put a softner and add anything or do you ever get that sulfer smell?
If you have 3 people I am guessing you use about 300 gallons per day, that is just a guess based on results for myself.

We use way to much water everyday as evident by our ginormous water bill! My husband is the biggest offender in that he leaves water running while brushing his teeth and if he's helping the kids do their's. Or if he's doing something at the kitchen sink he'll turn the water on and walk away to go get something else.

I will bet he is using 20 gallons of water just for teeth brushing. I bet if he had to haul water back it would be a different story.
I had a room mate here for awhile who would do dishes by leaving the hot water on full blast for about an hour and wash each dirty dish, glass & silver by itself by squeezing the bottle of dishsoap for every item. I mean, not just for rinsing, he refused to fill up the sink and soak the dishes...99% of the water ran right out the drain into the sewar.

I got into big fights over that since he lived here for free & I paid the water bill. He could have cared less. I still cannot believe that anyone like that who claims to be smarter than everyone else can be that dumb.
His excuse was, he does not like for dishes to touch each other

now I have an awesome dishwasher that i got for 75% off in a going out of business sale...I am spoiled these days.

I would LOVE to see him have to haul all the water he wastes. May teach him to shut it off.

Great find on that dishwasher! 75% off, that is awesome!

                I would too.

Strap one of those wooden rods on their shoulders and buckets hanging on both sides. About one trip to & from the river would fix the problem

Jack & Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water...

Yeah, we have a softener (just replaced it last year). Without it I wouldn't wash my hands in our water. Is the sulfer smell, the rotten egg smell? If so, yep we get that when our salt runs low. We also have a reverse osmosis (sp?) for our drinking water. We're a family of 4 with 2 teenagers (need I say more).

Wow, I don't know. I mean the water bill my parents receive isn't usually that much, well I guess it depends on what you consider "alot".

Yah, there are different wells, some are sweet and you dont have to add anything but if you have the egg smell then you have to use salt.

I think I started too mnay threads this week, I can't keep up with them
