HOUSTON - You have a Problem....

My heart goes out to all you in the Houston area and in and around the Gulf area.

From the looks of Hurricane Rita - your fixing to get a pounding.... REAL BAD....

Remember - materialistic things can be replaced (most) but "lives" cannot!!!

Between Katrina and incoming Rita our nation is taking a beating - mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially.

Many of us wish we were in a better postion to help you. Our donations seem so inadequate at times....

You are in our thoughts - and our prayers.

    Just take your favorite photos....

Everything else can be replaced! We went through this all last summer in Florida but now, what we learned here is that, forget everything but the favorite photos, water, flashlights, candles, tuna fish & peanut butter...but as we all watched what happened in N. Orleans, there's that probability of people carjacking you for your supplies as well...and also, here in FL, you might end up running from the storm and having it follow you. There's really just no where to hide down here. I am so devestated by the news...

Take your relevant papers. HO Insurance, Deeds, Birth Certificates, etc... YOU WILL NEED THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes, photos, memmories are worth more than money, but you need the above stuff above the photos.
And your pet, I ain't leavin the dog.

I'm amazed at the way Florida handles things, especially in Dade and Broward. Dade can handle riots since the 80's and they've gotten real good about 'canes. Post Andrew put all us techs. on the "essential" list for transit in Dade so when a storm hits that place hums. They test emergency generators and all constantly and our facilities become command centers. We paint a bleak picture in Florida but believe me crime isn't really much where I've always lived and compared to what i saw in NO we've had very few problems. We tend to be a little hard on the place but Miami has been beaten with a baseball bat since the 1980 Riots, Hatian and Cuban Boatlift in 80, 84 riots (other minor riots), Miami Vice imaging, unrestrained immigration, Hurricanes and several BAAAAD NO NAME, outta' the blue STORMS like October 18, 2000 that none of you know about that caused us to be declared a disaster area, I was stuck in my old house for two days (it sat on a small hill about six feet higher with 56 other homes).

For a place that has been hit with so much South Florida is in amazingly good shape. I wouldn't move back to Miami so please understand this is coming from a Broward boy who works there. And we have REALLY wide, good expressways here. I drive 27 miles one way to work nearly all on I-75 with a minimum of traffic.

It's got problems but given a choice between here and Louisiana, I'll take here WAAAAAY more! Where AMISLANDER lives is absolutely prime and beautiful, it is a great place on the west Coast and pricey. Very prime property.

        .

Many times I heard where rescue people come to get the people out, and say "Oh no, we can't take the "Animal(s)"

My answer would be a middle finger also...

I know that most rescues can't carry enough cages, but maybe a mixture of muzzles? Of course, I do have mine..2 sets actually.
