    Howdy everyone!

Well, back in DSL business!!!!!!!! Wilma hit our complex hard, Sunrise was ground zero, alot of damage to the townhomes and hundreds of downed trees. We are in a "priority zone" because the Cingular Towers, City Hall, PD and an Elementary School are right on our road.

Thanks to those who emailed, I will answer tomorrow and in the week ahead. Our home has concrete sidewalls and frame/masonite front and back. We were VERY blessed and came away with only a couple thousand in damage, our deductible won't be met. But the roof held 100%, the door held thanks to my body bracing it and amazingly even though our fence flew away NOT one patio or windowscreen so much as came loose!!!!!!!!!! Major, major damage to other townhomes in our complex, mostly trees falling on homes.

There is a long list of people to give recognition to, beginning with my boys who have joined the rest of the fine folks around us in collective effort clearing trees and taking responsibilty for the community without looking to benefit personally. My boys were already (bragging, sorry) well liked and now are enjoying sainthood but they loved doing the work and felt important. Our little community pulled together, an absolute hodgepodge from every corner of the earth and cleared dozens of large oaks, black olives, storm drains and debris. My wife who was thoroughly prepared, we had everything needed for up to a couple of weeks (post Andrew habit), corner stores who opened without power (thank you Ahmed at the Country Market who is still without power and also the owners of Freshmark, a real Green Grocer on our corner who is still running the Cash register with a car battery). Pollos Don Mario for opening and serving hot food.
Publix for keeping the ATMs going with generators. Brandsmart employees who showed up to sell analog phones and $12.00 TV's on day two.
The Sunrise Police (80% of our city is still without power). You have kept accidents way below normal because of the high visibility and absolute vigilance at all intersections. You made gas lines move fast and orderly.
My neighbors who spent the day signaling whose roof was going, you all know how we do it every time.
Cingular because your 400 generators were a welcome sight out on Hiatus Road and the tower was back up within a day.
FPL, Bellsouth and so many others paid and unpaid who have put in time and concern. The people of Solera Community Church in Sunrise, especially Dwight and pastor Jimmy who went out to look each member up and assess needs, not pressed out of religion but out of a heart of real concern and charity. And our heart goes out to Pastor Sal, a fine man who gave my son an accordion and whose home was totally destroyed by a falling tree. He is to old and this was not good for him and his fine wife.

In spite of the MEDIA it was not total chaos here. I work for Miami Dade County and alot of things click into action when a storm approaches. Had this been a Cat four or Five Dade and Broward WOULD NOT have been New Orleans. Things progressed very fast after the storm and Municipalities were in complete control moment one. Dade and Broward have been maligned greatly. They are very effective at dealing with riots and disasters. This has been VERY orderly and i am very proud of South Florida.

I'm doing double shifts now so, g'nite all.

Glad to know that you are safe. It is good to see people working together and being well prepared. I fell that you have to take some responsibility for self before you can expect others to hep you.
Where I live, we get at least one major storm a year. But since Floyd, we have been hit hard each year since. Abnormal flooding, noreasters, extensive lightening storms, etc. When the news tells you it is bad and get ready (very few times these storms are forcasted that you don't have some notice) "then get ready to the best of your ability." Don't try and be a hero and expect someone else to risk their lives to come "save" you because of your bad choices.
      Remember Texas' motto
      Drunks with guns
      You loot ---- we shoot

Shame on anyone that tries to benefit on a tragedy. Retailers, looters, government, etc.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

        WELCOME BACK, MY FRIEND,

Glad to know you and yours are OKAY!!! Had been wondering how it went for you.

Glad to hear your damage was not too severe.
Also sounds like you raised some "mighty good boys".....

Yes during times like this it should be neighbor helping neighbor - but often its not!!

I don' think its RIGHT for anyone to benefit off anothers tragedies. The penalties of the law should be severe.

        Good to hear from you
