Hope this is the right forum for this question...
Filed BK7 in July, had 341 in August, awaiting redemption on husband's vehicle and our discharge. Was really looking forward to our "fresh start". Unfortunately, it was over before it began. My employer unexpectedly did not pay us for the last pay period. We learned we were not receiving our paychecks hours before our direct deposits should have been made. That was 2 weeks ago. One week after the missed pay day, we were paid for 40 hours (rather than the 80 hours due). This Thursday is pay day again. I am currently owed for 120 hours, plus Monday & Tuesday of this pay period. I am also paying for daycare for my child in order to go to work. Overheard some inside info today that leads me to believe we will not be paid what we are owed. I know most people will say to just quit, but I am afraid that if I bail out now I will never be paid the money that is owed to me. I am also afraid that if I quit I will be ineligible for unemployment. (I am in Ohio if that makes a difference). Also complicating matters is the fact that the business is owned by a relative, and I don't want to ruin that relationship. (It has been pointed out to me that said relative doesn't seem too concerned with alienating me!) There has been ZERO communication from the boss about this. He literally runs in & out of the office to avoid any questions or conversation about this.
Any advice, suggestions, sharing of similar experiences would be most appreciated. I am terrified that our fresh start is about to fail, as due to the lack of income, we have already fallen behind on the basic monthly bills. I really need to resolve this.
