    Black Friday Sales

The Friday after Thanksgiving has been dubbed "Black Friday" due to retailers hoping to rake in so much in sales during the holiday season that they will be printing in "black" ink vs. "red" ink of showing losses.
If you google "Black Friday" you can get advance info/fairly accurate guesses or leaked info an many of the major stores and consider your purchases ahead of time rather than waiting for the Thursday newspaper.
Interestingly enough, WalMart has decided that rather buck the trend, that they have published their "Fri. only" sales on their website already. Need a 12 cup coffeemaker for $4.99 or a notebook computer for under $400?
If you have some money and like to research these tyoe of sales, google "Black Friday" or go to WalMart's website.
Personally, it's not much help to me, since I don't get paid till the 1st, but thought some of you here might find it helpful. Art

Also heard on the news that Wallmart is honoring all sales from other stores also. If another store has it on Sale Friday, Wallmart will sell it for that too...... ONE STOP SHOPPING FOLKS!!!

      Just a thought,

I will not go to the mall or any other store...

on the Friday after Thanksgiving...I will watch it on the news. Aren't I awful!!!

Listen, just getting a banana at Publix this morning at 7:50 a.m. was almost impossible...when the snowbirds flew in the first week of November, I went to the store, like the 2nd or 3rd and in the dairy aisle, all the sour creme was gone except 3 containers of "low fat" sour creme...guess everyone was making tacos that day...lol...but seriously, I am not even going off the island on Friday if I can help it. I just can not deal with traffic, crowds, decisions...I'm obviously losing it!!! lol

I won't be going out on Friday. I can't stand to be in all that madness, which is certainly lacking in 'holiday spirit'. C'mas shopping will be limited this year, but Ebay & Barnes & Noble.com are my favorites. ($25 order at B&N.com is free shipping, and since there is no sales tax for online orders-I pay less than if I shopped at the regular B&N store.)

I got my wedding dress on Ebay, under $100 total. (Counting s/h.)
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

Used to have all my holiday shopping done by October 1st every year. This year I have bought nothing....... Friends and family understand the situation (hopefully) and lots of my gifts will be "homemade" - candy, cookies, craft items!
Have never had the "urge" to fight all the peope on Black Friday....... who wants beatup before the holidays and listen to people complain because the merchandise is all gone when they get there.
This year I'm going to focus on the "reason" for the Season..... and I think a lot of us need to return to this....
                  Christmas has become soooooo commercial......

I will spend Christmas with friends and family (hopefully) and just enjoy the presence of them all.....

I usually frequent a deals website/messageboard and was reading some of the posts about people's stories and black friday. Some of them were rediculous, some people were showing up at midnight just to get in the door at 5 am. In my opinion it really isn't worth it unless you are really looking for something specific and you are sure you can get a good deal on it.

I was watching the news a couple weeks ago before black friday and they had these 20 somethings on there talking about all the stores they were going to hit and one guy said if it was a good deal, no matter what it was he would most likely buy it, not because he necessarily needed it, but just because. What a moron. Oh well, maybe once they max out their credit cards and have to file bk they will finally learn. . Gotta learn somehow I guess...

Minny, You should meet my sister, she bought me breakfast (There's a new 50's themed diner by the store) and so we ate, and left. Passing a learning store I pointed to many christian symbols and said "Man, those people on the bk board are tired of people saying "Happy Holidays"

She let off a 2 min diatribe about how the stores and merchants have brought this season down to "Shop till you drop" and that it's no longer the day it used to be....

I think you and her would be good friends.
