    Help for the Holidays

As some of you have read, we do nearly all of our shopping for the family online. Once again I am offering info. on the websites that our family in it's online travels have found to be the best as far as ease of navigation, service and pricing. Most, but not all take Echeck or Paypal. I hope you find this list helpful.

The sites posted here are highly recommended and all offer EXCELLENT customer service. I have bought about 50 pairs of shoes for our family online over the years. I have multiple transactions with all of these sites and am pleased to recommend each one.

Three of the shoe sites offer high quality shoes at excellent prices and will easily beat the Payless garbage and Wal Mart Sneakers for price and COMFORT. We do not shop for shoes at any local store.

I myself have over 1000 Paypal transactions since they opened. I have several thousand ebay and ebay store ( I was also a seller) transactions and hundreds of transactions with the stores listed.

I derive nothing from this but please let me know if you like them or find this helpful.

For womens shoes: These are New York brands such as Kenneth Cole, Donna Karan, Liz Claiborne and others...
Gotham City Shoes (New York) EXCELLENT PRICES, FAST SHIPPING and Paypal friendly on ebay and on the website
    Web: http://www.gothamcityonline.com/
    Ebay Store: gothamcityonline

Grapevinehill (Texas) EXCELLENT PRICES ALSO, FAST SHIPPING and Paypal friendly on ebay and on the website
Mens, womens boots, mens dress shoes, cowboy boot brands such as Lucchese (the kind Bush wears), Timberland, White Mountain, Land Rover and many others.
    Web: http://www.grapevinehill.com/
    Ebay Store: grapevinehill

Dr. Jays: This store is GREAT for Teenagers shoes! The pricing is way below retail and they ship fast! Paypal friendly on the website
    Web: http://www.drjays.com/

    Samash.com Music Store
A little slow on phone service but WOW. Bought my son a Hermit Schartel Violin for around $299.00 and it was shipped FAST and beautifully and securely packaged!
Beautiful quality, Romanian made (they are among the finest), cheaper than you will pay in local stores. Love this store! Paypal friendly.
    Samash.com

    Auto Parts:
    Autozone
FREE SHIPPING and it is lightning fast. They are in the same Industrial park in Memphis as FEDEX and it shows in Shipping Time. Great website easy to navigate.I recommend them over NAPA (poor website) and Advance (Discount) whose website can be annoying and is a hassle to click through.
    Credit Cards only.

    Ink and Toner:http://www.aink.com/
Great pricing and superfast shipping. Wonderful and easy to click website with that lets you use Paypal in addition to other forms of payment. A Mom & POP operation with excellent customer service. I have really had good service from them over the years.

    Amazon.com
No need to explain, been buying from them forever. We have never had a problem. Credit cards only.

    Walmart.com
Once again, the name says it all. Excellent all the way around.

    Computers
    Tigerdirect.com
OK, they are local (Miami Boys, but do not let that prejiduce you, they are bent on quality service), so I'll concede a little bias. I'll also say, easy to order, solid online only specials and excellent over the phone service. Recently ordered a complete HP system. It was shipped UPS from Illinois within two hours. Not just a shipping label mind you, but it was trackable and had departed Illinois within two hours of my order, can't beat that. Paypal and Echeck friendly. They also are present at all of our local marketpro shows and treat you like you were made of gold.

    Cell Phones and accessories
    Eforcity.com
Excellent pricing. Do not pay for extras for your Cell phone without visiting them first. For cases, OEM items these guys are great. Shipping is USPS, but is timely and orders have always been accurate. I tend to order OEM as far as chargers and such as the aftermarket stuff does not seem to last as long. This is a Mom & Pop online store that I highly recommend and with four Cell phones in our home we use them constantly.

    Sears.com
Another "let the name say it all" online store. I order clothes (I'm a STRICT Levis boy) from them. Excellent service, shipping and packaging. They wrap your clothes in plastic, fold them neatly and package them nicely. The pricing is still Sears but the time saved combined with their fast shipping means I love this store.

    My little caveat
From time to time some people will experience a problem with even the best of online stores. I cannot be responsible for that, as always "caveat emptor" or "let the buyer beware" prevails. I have presented these sites based on our family's extensive online experience and these merchants have met our personal standards of excellence. I have used other stores and found my experience with them to be from mediocre to horrible (Macys.com, slow, slow, slow, poor packaging). I do not derive any benefit from recommending any of these stores. When available we try to use Mom & Pop stores. I believe in small business and love the risk takers and want them to keep going, without them America would be a Socilaist nightmare. That being said, we also use alot of the big staple stores and I have to give the good ones their due and some them were once Mom & Pop stores also. I hope that those of you who use these stores have as good an experience with them as we have had. Feel free to add your own recommendations and comments here also. Please remember, no personal plugs as no advertising is allowed in posts in the Forum.

More and more online stores are taking ECHECK or Paypal.

I like Ebay & Barnesandnoble.com. W/ B&N, its usually free shipping on a $25+ order. Since there is no sales tax, its cheaper than going to the store...

How about you spend less money and spend more time with family, friends, and charities? I can't believe a bunch of people who cried, "I'm broke!" on a courtroom table are now swapping suggestions for saving money on spending for gifts.

Not only is the true meaning of Christmas lost on you, but you have not learned anything from your past experiences with money.

You're the one eating shoe. I have money for food. And I didn't need a trustee to help me figure that out.

You might want to add some salt to that shoe soup. If you're in the northeast, you can even scrape some off the road for free.

lightening - what did they do, kick you out from under THAT rock???

This is a discussion board. Discussion is between more than one person about the "persons" involved's opinion. Otherwise, a sharing of ideas and feedback.
Most of the people that come to this site come here for information, support and knowledge of other's situations. I can and will admit when I am wrong. I am not here to purposely upset, hurt, be mean to etc. anybody. I also hate to admit that lightening pushes my buttons! How about getting a life ?
I know the meaning of the season. I also admit that we all "commercialize". That doesn't meant that we don't know the meaning. You probably don't give gifts (except your nasty version of advice -well, we want a refund), have a tree, utilize paid holidays from work either do you????? You must be a very lonely person, I express my deepest sympathies to those that live and work around you.I believe that there is a show about you on TV - How the GRENCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

I celebrate Christmas by donating my time and money to charity which is why you money-hungry morons really tick me off. How many hours a year do YOU spend at a soup kitchen in your community?

My guess is that there are many lonely people posting here because they've screwed their family out of money. I can't imagine how you could even consider sitting in church knowing you stole from banks, family, friends, and anyone else who was dumb enough to lend you money. Every time you mention a collection agent or a CC, remember you're talking about an actual human being with friends, a family, and a home.

Do you do it because you like being the all important savior to a group of people who need help? Or do you do it out of the kindness of your heart because you want to help others? I have a hard time thinking the 2nd option is possible as you show no desire to 'help' anyone here. It is not 'helpful' to attack/criticize/demean anyone.

I just hope you don't take the time talking to the people who need/use the soup kitchen. I can hear it now: well if you'd just get a job...

                          Mr. Lightening (assumption only)
                          1. I am not a moron, nor are 99.9% of the others here not morons. I am also not money hungry. I do a lot of volunteer work. I was taught to help others as far back as I can remember. There are such things as circumstances.
                          2. You donate money?? So you are saying you do have a heart? I pray that you do not talk to people at the shelters etc. like you do here. I remember from your other posts that there are no reasons that everybody can't work. If they are in homeless shelters, isn't YOUR logic that they are there because of misguided spending, etc. Notice that I said YOUR logic, not mine.
                          3. I can sit in church very well thank you. Jesus was sent here for a reason. God forgives, he can and will help you. Maybe next time you are in church you may want to listen to the message of the preacher more carefully.
                          4. I do acknowledge that creditors, etc, are people with problems, families, etc. If I could pay, I would. I am sorry, by filing bankruptcy, I acknowledged that.
                          5. I don't know how you sleep at night, maybe your nastiness keeps you company!!!
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Well gee Lightning, I bought my son a computer for College, that was the tigerdirect purchase. I'm paying his College, bought him a vehicle to get to College in. I've paid my tithes, given to Operation Blessing, opened my home as a laundry center for our Church friends for nearly a month after the hurricane. I gave a friend $500.00 along with his brother and dad for a total of 1500.00 (vet bill 1455.00) because his dog attacked another and he was going to be sued, he is a cop (new hire) and would have had to report this incident while on probation. He offered to repay me, we are childhood friends, I said no and if you need more come back for more. In June I will start building my home for retirement by selling the one I am in and paying rent for the last few years and i've told my stepmother (my "real" mother is dead so pardon me) that I am not leaving her in South Florida. She and her sister will occupy that home for free for life at my expense, she will live there before I will, she loves Tennessee and is accustomed to mountains and it reminds her of Bogota without the kidnappings.

SO PARDON ME LIGHTNING FOR PUTTING THIS OUT THERE, I AM NOT BRAGGING. BUT SINCE YOU ARE SUCH A DAMNED EXPERT ON THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT PUT OUT THE EXACT ORGANIZATIONS YOU ARE HELPING WITH PROOF. I CAN ADD A LITTLE MORE TO THIS IF YOU LIKE OR IS IT ENOUGH TO MEET YOUR ALL HIGH EXPECTATIONS. And to boot haven't charged a thing, paid for it all cash.

AMAZON.COM FOR COLLEGE BOOKS MORON (you said it first).
NOW MORON, gothamcityonline.com a $30.00 pair of COMFORTABLE Kenneth Coles for a working woman over a RIP OFF pair of Payless 20.00 shoes that last two months.

NOW, grapevinehill.com MORONfor a pair of 45.00 SHIPPED Timberlands that are QUITE DIFFERENT from a 30.00 pair of Wal Mart sneakers because I HAVE A HERNIATED DISC, LOWER LEFT LUMBER #5 ALONG WITH DEGNERATIVE DISC DISEASE. I have constant pain and require a good shoe because I refused to opt out the easy way and make the good citizens of the County pay for my injury which would put me out of circulation like most folks who want to die without ever making a difference, I WANT TO STAY IN THE RUNNING.

Dr' JAYS MORONbecause the SHOES ARE CHEAPER or to meet your all high standards should teenagers wear flip flops.

SAMASH MORON because it is cheaper to buy a musical instrument there than ANYWHERE ELSE or to meet your all high standards should we just trash all culture and live as hermits?

Autozone: MORON are you that damned stupid that you don't think peopel need to buy INEXPENSIVE PARTS FOR THEIR CARS.

                            Ink and toner
Listen one and all to the all high idjotness of Mr or Mrs? Lightning and Don't buy that ink and toner for $17.98 for three carts at AINK.COM. That is UNCHRISTMASLIKE! Instead got to Sams, BJ's or Best Buy and pay $60.00 and i apologize for publishing the name of the site because damned, that is just ruining the spirit of Christmas.

Sears MORON because their LEVIS are cheaper and available

I posted this to help save money on daily items and this RODENT of a human thinks it is ruining the spirit of Christmas.

Lightning, are you kidding us all? You trash people who have made bad decisions or mistakes. You give not one word of encouragement to anyone here. These are the same people who end up homeless. You see I worked with Peoples Cathedral in Miami helping addicts and homeless folks back in the late 80's and early nineties. Pastor Eden and Sister Eden (he is deceased, she is still in charge) would know exactly who i am if you showed them my posts, which if you called them I guess you could do, i've given you the info. You can tell them it is the Gringo who went to the Church for many years with his Colombian wife. They were a good loving couple and she will know exactly who i am. I speak fluent Spanish and Creole and am also known to afew Hatian Churches locally, one of the few white Americans here who has helped train Haitian Immigrants as volunteer work at my employer several years ago (You should know alittle, your an inner city volunteer so "Como se van?, Sa van bien?" that isn't spanish incidentally, I don't write so well in Creole). I have even visited people in jail both with the Church and without. I've gone to see old folks in the hospital and guess what? My two youngest work in a Nursing Home Ministry, my oldest, works at the Jewish orphanage here in sunrise, type in Sunrise/Orphanage/Jewish and then call them and ask if a 230 lb. 19 year old kid with a Polish name volunteers there. They will know him, i won't give you his name and i'll tell them tomorrow not to furnish it to you but to acknowledge when you call. Like i tell everyone here, I've had a wierd life, done alot of things that seem to compress a hundred years into 47, but that's typical in Miami if you were ever involved in the Cities Ministries.

When you say that you volunteer your time with those less fortunate I say you trash those less fortunate and nearly everyone less fortunate is there because of bad decisions on their part or someone elses, usually once they are old enough to be on their own, it is because of thier bad decisions.

I say you lie when you say you help and volunteer time and money, show us all the proof that you don't. You can X out the name and account numbers and scan the canceled checks, we will believe you and won't consider it a bad thing, you will simply be showing that what you say is true. It will not affect the overall Christian Principle, it will simply show to the troops that you claim to be encouraging to do such good deeds that you yourself practice what you truly say that you do.

I don't think this character realized that I did not post Saks or Abercrombe in here.
The higher a Monkey climbs the more his pink ass shows.

Show us definite proof, otherwise you are a liar
You've trashed those (not myself) made less fortunate by their mistakes while claimiing you donate time to those made less fortunate by their mistakes. In no Ministry or Mission would you be tolerated for one day with the attitude that you have. I've worked in those Ministries, i know. I've even worked the street of Miami for MOMS back in 1983-84 and since you are so involved you would know what MOMS is, it is well known Ministry and all of those who benefit made bad life decisions. Anyone involved in any major outreach in any US City knows what MOMS is so i am sure that you know.
Sorry, Lightning it's not the MOMS Ministry you find on the 'net as its been gone awhile, but it is the model for every major Urban Outreach but I am sure that since you know it you won't have to look it up on the 'net.

I apologize to all of you for the crass act of putting everything on my shirtsleeve, it is low, none of you knows my name so that makes a difference and i won't furnish my kids names, etc... It was necessary to offer up some word to an imbecile who does not know me and misinterpreted my intentions in this post.

Listen folks, I've called the RODENT names because he ignited the name calling, it's time this boy (or girl) was banned. This person needs to be gone, this isn't constructive in any way

How utterly wierd and timely, my wife and youngest son just came in and she informed me that he had donated 20 bucks that he got from my mother and my wife put in another 60 from her check (and THIS WOMAN TITHES) and they bought 80 dollars worth of Publix gift certificates for two single mothers (you know, women who made bad decisions and who according to Lightnings wisdom should be punished for life with insults) who my wife works with. Both were without Paychecks after Wilma and one had her pay stolen once they started getting paid. Darn, I'm gonna need Lightning to teach my wife about his "meaning of Christmas". Oh, and since we are extremely blessed at this time both women and their kids are coming for the 24th.

I conclude any further posts on my part in this section, it's all yours folks.

Now, I'm gonna break my own rule and go ahead and post again. I think it's really nice that you've volunteered in Soup Kitchens. Now, I've volunteered, (well helped the Church) with food pantries but not in a "Soup kitchen" like you insinuate that you have. I understand the difference because see I've volunteered before. I've never met an employeed person who worked in what would be called a "Soup Kitchen" (the truth is that the phrase is not normally used by most feeding ministries). Nearly everyone that I've met who work in such an outreach is retired, most have been the actual recipients of the good works and many are stay at home women. This is because soup kitchens do not operate at dinner when most of us are home or at least off work and would have to fight traffic and probably not arrive in time anyway because feeding takes several hours of prep time.

The truth is that ALL soup kitchens serve hot meals at noon. The prep time and cleanup occupies the better part of a day and would require you to be a regular. You don't just "show up". Having worked in similar programs with my family I can tell you that they know you are coming months ahead and you are on the list.

So, here's my question, What Church or Synagogue? What "Soup Kitchen" (thats mainly a newspaper phrase)? And since you "volunteer" throw out afew Spanglish phrases. Any inner city volunteer knows afew in any City. I was in Crossville Tennessee and talked to the gardeners at the KOA. They spoke no english and Nashville has a sizeable Mexican Community so latins are everywhere. Anyone in any urban outreach can speak at least one or two phrases of Spanglish (it's not from the movie of that title, it's been around since the 60's), it is necessary. If you do you will know why "Que bicho" will get you a can of insect repellent from a Cuban and a b***h slap from an Argentinian. Little things like that could cost you your life in urban ministry down here, or in New York, Baltimore, Chicago but you know that because you volunteer at soup kitchens because appearently you are not working during the day and are on the available list...

Don't forget now, name of of the Ministry, name of the Soup kitchen. I'll look up the rest, if they are real they are listed somewhere on the web. Down and out folks use Computers at the Public Library, I'm sure that you know that being a volunteer with ALOT of free time.

Also, are you willing to spend at least $100 on Angel tree this year? I do Angel Tree every year and always add much more than the requested gift (underwear, socks, etc...). I've already bought my gifts for our Church's "Angel Tree" and will be going out with them next Saturday (I work but I'll sacrifice for it and donate 8 hr. Annual leave). Are you willing to honestly give at $100 to Angel Tree, they are also online:
