No - its not just a bk forum, they cover a lot of other legal stuff - but so RUDE............................

You are not missing anything Stacci, in fact, you get so mad you'd blow your top, lol................

Me I have NO DESIRE to discuss any of my problems or business with any of them.....

Min, my BK family is fine with me. The only other useful forums for, the Appliance Blog and the Chevrolet Corsica Forum.

I still can't believe some of Lightnings posts. They are bizarre to such a point that one almost wonders if they are real. I mean had I never filed i never would be here. The word wouldn't have any reason to cross my lips.

I will say that I'm not Lightning. Simply as I don't think I could ever be as heartles or snide or basically nasty as he(?) has been.

It takes a special person, with hairs in a certian crack, to make them this way.

But no matter, I have him(?) ignored now and always....

I think maybe he has been hurt by a bankruptcy himself...

What I mean is when there is a company that files bankruptcy they can go back 6 months and get money paid out for supplies they had paid for...

For instance, my fiance's dad sold a company about 6000 worth of supplies, then the company went bankrupt. The court collected back the 6000 that the company paid out for the supplies to him, AND kept the products!!!!

Talk about double whammy for a small business that only does about 50k worth of sales a year... his family is very sour about bankruptcy because of that, but what I tell him is there are good reasons to file, and not everyone should be judged equally.

My fiance about flipped when I told him I was going to file. I took him to the meeting with me, and he hated to see the typical 3rd time filer with manicured nails, but he also had compassion for the 65+ woman with medical bills from an accident that had health conditions that prohibited her to work and she could just live off social security...

Maybe lightening would benefit from going to a round of meetings, and see the cases. Yes, you are going to see gross abuse of bankruptcy, but you will also hear cases of families and people that innocently found their way into financial tragedy due to deaths, illness, job layoffs... you name it...

              Good points Hope-

And I think the people here are (mostly) looking for support and info, not looking to cheat and benefit from the system.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

LOL, this "other" forum I am referring to is a gathering place where they criticize the ability to clean up our credit reports by refuting inaccuracies, etc. I won't say any more for fear I get spanked by the mods. It is truly a place where JBD and CA's gather for moral support.

                Ooops. Did I say that?

There's a new member over there who says that all debtors should be put in prison because we are lower than pond scum (my translation). We are thieves because we steal from hard-working, honest companies, etc.

                Oops. Did I say that?

                Plausible Denial. Right.

"Lightening" gets our attention, that is for sure!!!! He most certainly knows how and when to push our buttons. Yes, we let him! But most of here are here to seek out help and advice and to offer both when we can. Yes, we do offer our opinions but for the most part they are meant to be constructive.
Nobody likes a know-it-all. I have had a many a large smile on my face because of the bulls@*t he spouts. Many of our scabs have yet to heal from having to file or be in this position. I personally, didn't "plan" to file. I made some wrong choices, as well as been a "victim" of circumstances.
If lightening was as smart and intelligent as he claims to be he wouldn't be at this forum, he would have his own tv talk show and be at NATO solving all the worlds problems.
So, I will continue to express myself, maybe defend my choices, but I am not apologizing for filing for bankruptcy.
Lightening if you decide to "change" your identity use either "snake in the grass" for obvious reasons, ghost, or TICK. You could easily be any of those. If you give me a few days, I am sure I could define you even better.
For someone like you to act so BIG & BAD, you sure act SCARED to me. What are you afraid of?????
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

If someone sets out with that intent, then sure. But, I don't think people plan to run up a bunch of debt and then file BK. And, people surely don't plan to be laid off, end up in an accident, have a major illness, or suffer loss due to some tragedy.

I have never been fond of those who cry 'woe is me' and place 100% of the blame for their predicament on the creditors. I made bad decisions, that resulted in financial hardship when things happened that I couldn't control. But hard-working and honest they are NOT.

The possibilty that he has been damaged by BK is there but I think that he would have said it. In that case, he may be a little guy that got written off, in which case his axe may not cut as sharp, he may have his own legitimate gripe. I guess i'm a benefit of the doubter type.

I personally think he just has to grip about something and that as a child he pulled the wings off flies, terrorized the neighborhood elderly and animals, etc.

He still has the "LITTLE MAN SYNDROME". OR maybe he lives thru others pain. OR maybe this is his life......

I fully agree there Staci. I'll never stop dislikeing the creditors, but I know it is mostly my fault, but I sure tried everyway I could to get this resolved. But it sure is hard when the creditor won't even consider options which still gives them everything they wanted...

I would much rather see a man file bankruptcy - then to find him with his brains blowed out and his entire family dead BECAUSE he saw NO WAY OUT.........of his financial problems.....

Many years ago (25) my mom's cousin got in a real financial bind.... Was loosing his home, farm, everything they owned....

Mentally he couldn't handle it...... and he destroyed himself and his whole family... He left a note explaining WHY - and WHY he took his family with him..... Sad time for our family.... NO ONE KNEW THE DIFFICULTY HE WAS GOING THROUGH....

No support group for him - no online forum to help guide him thru his problems and suggest options for him....

In his note he declared he was a FAILURE as a husband, father, and keeper of his family. He did not want them left behind to "clean up the mess"........

Talk about a shock when they were all found that day.....
a real eye-opener to many of us...

Had we known, someone in the family could have HELPED them.....

Financial problems break up marriages, cause people to turn to alcohol (cant spell today), causes severe depression, mental anquish, and can turn a good man into a thief....

Its a terrible thing when OWING A BILL can cause a man to take his life and the lives of his family!!

Bankruptcy is hard - not considering bankruptcy makes it even harder to deal with the financial problems many of us can face due to poor judgement and actions on our own part, illness of a relative or ourselves, or loss of everything due to fire and natural causes...

Bankruptcy may be degrading, embarrassing, causes loss of self esteem, and just about cause a nervous breakdown - BUT WE CAN SURVIVE IT....

AND it makes it so much easier and better when you have a strong support group behind you all the way through it..
They help you mentally, emotionally, and help guide and give you options that you are unaware that are available to you...

Thank God for our Forum - It may be a lifesaver to someone!!

Minny, How so right you are!

I have heard many times "I was so deep in debt I couldn't see anyway out" and these people won't consider BK as it still (To them) has that stupid stigma..

In fact, there was a rash of major accidents where the driver of the car (A couple were multiple car wrecks, but most were single accidents) and finally one man survived. That's when the truth came out.

His insurance wouldn't pay on suicide but WOULD on "Accidental Death" soooo..CRUNCH! BAM! Kaboom!!

But he survived..His wife forgave him and he BK'ed out. But this set off the insurance companies to try and "Recover" monies paid out by previously written off "Accidents" which were similar..Luckily, the survivors didn't have to pay back the cash as the judge ruled the insurance company failed to do their "Due Diligence"

But sadly, those men are gone, the kids are without a Father and the wife struggles in most cases (The insurance wasn't all that much) so the death was really "Worthless...Sad, tragic and upsetting to all....
