    Audie Murphy

Darn... My wife was on her way out of the neighborhood for a school function and called me to check up on my middle son who stayed home. I ran upstairs (rare for me to go there) Went into the room and he was doing what he was supposed to but i looked around and saw two really gorgeous GIjOE dioramas that my younger son had done on his bookshelves. He used baby powder for snow and I had bought him a blown up GIjOE jeep years ago and a parially blown up building. He has trees, white fleece, rocks, green flannel blankets GIjOE size he got off ebay, poses look almost human... looks unbelievable.

He has read Audie Murphies "To Hell and Back", colorful language and all about fourteen times so I think the scenes are from the book. I read a little piece of the book and had to laugh at the reference to "Fur lined Foxholes", I will say no more on that. But sheesh, i gotta' get around my own house more often!

    Ok - I'm stupid, I know, but what is a "fur-lined foxhole?"

Please, carry that no further! That was a stickler for me when he started to read the book and I didn't expect from 50's faire. i was surprised to fined any such reference in material from that age. it's kind of one those things I didn't want to explain to a thirteen year old but i guess he gleaned its meaning eventually.

I have read some of my fathers writings on his time in WW2 (from the train station on to may 1945). things weren't as innocent as I would have thought. The language had a different slant but folks is folks no matter what the age.

Robivi3 - your post accounts for my day.
I blush if the wind changes directions. We have a new policy (well almost daily - we are referred to as DCC - Division Of Constant Change) about sex offenders, where I have to ask them questions that are in my opinion, questions that should be asked of mental health counselors. Let alone the fact, that i deal with them one on one several times a week, go to their homes, alone, during the day, at night and on the weekends. May be time to seek new job........
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
