Whoever did his estate planning is a genius, I'll give them that. He won't ever have to pay a dime to that family. Home is safe, lives on his NICE retirement money from NFL pension. I love Florida though, although Fort Myers is one of the biggest growing cities in the U.S. so it's a pain in the butt to drive sometimes. Supposedly 2000 families a week moving in on average.

There is no place like home. Vacations are great, traveling is great, but where you put down roots are the best. You can always go home.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Edwards, Germantown is very nice, I am familiar with it as my Mom and Dad are both Memphians (not my stepmom, my real mother died in 1969, she was from Memphis).

We are building in Fairfield Glade north of Crossville. Five Golf Courses, 11 lakes, four Marinas, 13,000 acres, 3000 full time residents. It is very pretty and cool and has some of the highest air quality according to Sperling's and the EPA in the US. We are right next to catoosa Preserve and as you said Cumberland National Park. I used to do 28 mile hikes down at Flamingo in the Everglades (Flamingo to Clubhouse Beach) but that is over, the heat is brutal the older you get.

Ft. Myers, again very nice. Marathon, love it but one accident and can't get up US 1 for a day or more. I found an early 90's brochure for lots in Cape Coral for $4995.00 in my tool box the other day. Now that same lot is a little over 100,000.00. Go figure, the Florida game is expensive!

Yeah, Florida has that deal where your primary residence is untouchable. Kinda' convenient. it's a Southern thing I think, sort of a "man's home is his castle" type of mentality. I was surprised even at what you could do with property here as long as you are not in an incorporated area. 'Course now we got that "Castle Doctrine" now to which means you can stand your ground if threatened in your home to (or anywhere else). Just ran over to my buddies house to watch Battlestar and got to handle his WW2 Russian Sniper Rifle and the Enfield WW1 English Sniper Rifle. Love to get my mits on a Whitworth but that'll never happen. Hopefully gonna' check the Russian Rifle at Markham park tomorrow. Very pretty, kinda' beats my little Ruger 22.

robivi3, it's funny that you talk about Publix like it's such a great grocery store down here. I'm originally from Pennsylvania, and when I moved down here a little less than two years ago, I was SOOOO disappointed in the grocery stores. They are AWFUL compared to Giant, Giant Eagle, and Weis Markets back in PA. Up there most grocery stores were about double the size of any Publix I've been to, and they just had the greatest baked goods, produce selections, and the meat selection was to die for. Almost every grocery store up there also had a lot of fresh food bars. Salad bars, mediterranean bars, hot wing bars, made to order chinese bars.....everything you could imagine. The only thing bad about them......no alcohol sold in grovery stores.

Publix is the best grocery store in the south. Go to a Winn Dixie or other crap grocery store and you will realize why Floridians love Publix. I like it because it's not freaking huge and I can get my shopping done quick, but also has everything I want. Another good place, for people that like Spanish food is Sedanos PEople from southsouth florida know what I'm talking about muahaha. Best cuban bread ever omg.

Mango I can understand what you are saying but Graph is right, even Kroger can't touch Publix. But you gotta' realize Publix to us that were kids here is like the song "We all grew up on MacArthur, MacArthur Milk!!!" It's in our nature. Crossville TN, stores, yuck!

CUBAN BREAD, you ain't had bread til you had Cuban Bread straight from the oven, I MEAN HOT and soft with butter and a Coke. It is the absolute best. Don't let it cool, oh gosh it is good! Kuko's Superfood Center used to be on NE 6 Ave and 142 nd Street in North Miami and on Sunday we would wait at in front of the Cast iron oven and take four or five loaves at 50 cents a loaf.

The one thing about Miami is that it is an easy City to be in if you are short of money. You can stop at any Cuban Bakery in Hialeah and still fill your stomach and even have a soda with it for under $2.00. You've never seen Latin Bakeries until you've seen one of the Old Flagler Street Cuban Bakeries with the gorgeous wedding cakes in the window looking like strings of pearl and delicate, lacy sweet frosting. You can drive down the crappiest street in the City and find some of the best, finely ground Picadillo, thick black beans, Rice packed in the (Miamians know how it's packed in the bowl and how you turn the bowl over and what to do from there) and wonderful plantains all served together and leave you feeling like a king living on a great Ranch in the 1800's in northern Mexico or in Spain.

Winn Dixie, dirty store, small isles. Publix, layouts are easy to walk. Publix packaged items are of the best quality. Winn Dixie "Chex and Superbrand" garbage. Publix Icream ALWAYS ON SALE or Breyers, Publix brand (homemade or regular) and Breyers are of equal quality without argument of any kind.

When you walk the isles at Publix they are clean, wide and you like being there. Also, old Florida will remember the old commercials when Publix was owned by the family. "We take Sundays off so that our family can be with their family". ASnd they pay their workers like HUMAN BEINGS and Publix has always been thought of as a "good job". If you grew up here, they have always had a good reputation.

In the last Hurricane (Wilma) Publix was running the only working ATM, they got the one on Nob Hill running and put someone to watch over it. That comapany will always be special to me because any time Miami or Broward is in trouble they go out of their way to help. Our Publix (Sawgrass, though NOb Hill is closer) had no Latin Foods when we came up here years ago. The manager setup a Badia spice area at my wifes request and brought in some more variety of foods. Now they have everything.

NOW, fellow Floridians. Twenty years of chopping, buring and guns being drawn and dogs shot and Swat teams and Police and lawsuits. They CUT AND BURNED my beloved old Pink Grapefruit tree for no freaking REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that the growers Nazi like tactics have failed can we buy Citrus trees again? That tree gave me and my wife many good breakfasts and now those bastards tell us, OOOOPS, it was all for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare the Government march in and cut down my tree for no reason, how utterly dare them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we know of afew who drew guns and fought back and they DID NOT go to jail, God Bless Them.
