Graph, one thing you gotta' say about us Florida folk, we love our guns! The cutest and sweetest little Colombian girl I ever met (and married) packs a .38.
Now my wife speaks perfect English, no accent but she still thinks in Spanish so sometimes the phrases come out a little odd. Never forget the time she pulled up to the old house and from somewhere pebbles came over the roof from the lake behind the house and she yelled out "you throw rocks, I throw bullets" which would make perfect sense in Spanish but sounds funny in English. And my stepmother who is also Colombian? After 35 years my birthday cards still say "Hoppy Beerday" and for Thanksgiving "Hoppy Sangjives". Now throw in my Hatian brother-in-law, my Tennessee family with their accents, my step mother, my wifes family and guess who translates when we all get together? Miami, what a life, why be in a glass bubble looking in, I just dove in the day we arrived and started living here. Rememebr "Que Pasa USA?" (sorry, can't do the upside down). We all know "Steven Bauers" (Scarface) real name and how he went to Miami High and we all have a friend who beat up Rick Sanches in high school and I met Antonio Oquendo (Abuelo to Miamians) at the Taco bell on 132 and West Dixie. And Skipper Chuck died this week, "peace, love and happiness" and I will always remember getting ready for school and hearing a singer insert the "F" word into the song on his show. Oh well, Miami Boys back to the subject at hand... Where are you?...

Oh yeah too many people pack guns haha. However, most illegally. I do carry mine legally, although they charge way too much for concealed weapons permit in Florida. Oh well what can you do. I definately know what you mean with the food mmm. lol . Oh and yeah, always see tons of actors/actresses singers.. just everyone. Shit go to Star Island and they are all usually doing something out in the yard. I went with my mom and Julio Iglesias came out and did his little kiss thing with his hand.. (dont know how to explain it im sure people know what I mean) haha and she loves him so that made her...year. The only downfall in my opinion to south florida is hurricanes.. aside from that..and the sometimes high living expenses its great

Years ago i worked at Central Hardware on Arthur Godfrey in the 70's. It was a standard beach kids job, any kid whose parents had bucks and spent money in the store got a job there and I was there six years. We uised to service his house on Indian Creek Island. It's what 35 homes, remember the burglary on the Island and they fired the Police Chief? He had a beautiful bevy of young women servicng the kitchen and house then and they led a fairly leisurely life. BTW, the store isn't what it used to be, changed owners. Back in the 70's we sold all that high tech Sony stuff and spy cameras and even rented porno tapes out of a back room. Many famous folk ordered little brown bags delivered free. That store was doing 30,000.00 per day in those days. I made 300.00 a week in tips and the best tippers were the Zion Coptics (Brother Love) who sold alot odf dope out of the Star Island compound. I returned 200.00 because the bills stuck together (new money) and was told by BL, thats your gift, never reopen the gate when you come, if the money sticks, its yours. Brother carl once paid me $20 to carry a can of spray paint to his car. Anita Bryant and Meyer lansky used to shop for Comet and 409 there. Lansky lived in the Crystal House at 5505 Collins Ave. and used to walk his Yorkie in the morning. The Gibbs were regulars and had the house at 5620 North bay Road (Barry) while Andy lived at 30th and North Bay. I posted pics afew months ago showing my parents old house across from his. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore lived at 31st and North bay in the late 80's, early 90's in that huge house i know you've seen, the one with a six car garage right by the entry to Sunset Islands one and two. my parents paid 59,500.00 for the house on North Bay in 1971, imagine today. the BeeGees recording studio was at 1831 Purdy Ave. near the Marina behind Marks Cleaners (Alton Road) by the entry to Sunset #3&4. We helped set it up.

Yeah, the Hurricanes, bad, cost of living high. But at least when an emergency occurs we don't deal with like Louisiana (NO). Things kick in quick here and the clock ticks and the money meter gets running and stuff gets done fast. People down Miami-Dade and Broward but if there is a National Emergency ever I'd rather ride it out here. The wheels move fast, the cops show force and the things get nailed tight when the crap hits the fan. They don't play games here when its an emergency. Remember storing looters in Horse Trailers back when the last riots started? They don't give a crap here, they move in fast and clamp down before they lose control. We learned that a long time ago.

The best customers were the nastiest, they always wanted to "see you" at Christmas and knew your Birthday if they liked you. The tips at christmas ran into the thousands, you have to remember that we sold everything from nails to 1000.00 2 inch TV's back then. Employees would sign accounts and deliver merchandise at your request, just a phone call and we had carte blanche to go to the customer and never a delivery charge. The only house to stop others signing actually was julio Iglesias manager because one of HIS employees charged 7,000.00 in tools one day. They fired the guy and restricted the account.

Different day and age and I was young and carefree in a sense. Smugglers and mobsters were the best tippers by far. Actors, singers and such, lousy.

I remember the owners telling us to deliver 6 Sony trinitrons to the sixth floor hallway of Seacoast Towers and not to wait for payment. Well, we delivered, left and so did the TV's! No money, they laughed about it and soaked the loss, they got taken, but so much money was on the Beach in those days that it was nothing to take a 6000.00 hit for them. Money doesn't flow like those days anymore, it's a joke now. And man there were some awesome cars in those days!

We have CWP's and pack legally. You know the sign they had in the old Lums on Lincoln Road with the man in the boat "Pray to God but row toward shore!" good advice in the big city!
