    My space blogs...

why does it seem like people need to be showing naked parts of themselves all over the myspace network...????

How do I protect my sons from this??? And, if you haven't figured out by now, I'm pretty liberal...still fairly young...and have freebased with the worst of them...but still have my values & morals after it's all been said & done...I just don't get it....I don't mind nudity but after surfing that site...it looks like one big advertisement for sex!

I guess I've been holed up in the closet with dope in the past for too long & missed this evolution of media...

just my thoughts for the day!

Haven't you heard - it takes sex to even sell a dog collar these days!!!

They tell you to teach your children morals, guidelines, discuss safe sex with them, teach them abstance till marriage and then all day/all nite long on TV/internet eveything revolves around sex............

Don't get me wrong again here...... I'm not an old prude.... I'm a sixties "flower child"........... But I too have my morals and limits on what I want to see on TV/internet. And especially what kids see.
If the good Lord made anything better than sex - he kept it too himself..................

But that doesn't mean I want sex related stuff in the face of my kids all the time - so that's all they think about.......
They need to be learning, getting an education (and I don't mean on sex all the time), growing mentally and spiritually, emotionally.

Sex sells, its in almost every commercial...... including the cartoon ones. There's humor in everything, but does it all have to be sex related also.

Now days a 5 year old knows what "gay" means..... they know mom and dad "sleep together".... they know where babies come from and many even know how they are conceived. Something wrong with this PICTURE???

Yeah, this is something else I best not get started on!!!

Kids need to be children as long as they can. The adult life will be hard enough to deal with later on without throwing it in their face as babies.

      Minny....

...do you think it's like this? You've been through the sixties, I've been through the drugs...we are the worst critics because we've kind of experienced the side effects of each lifestyle? Maybe not the typical hippy or crackhead? One of my best friends from college told me that you can bring your children into this world but you can't shelter them from everything, you have to let them go into it and explore....scary!

I have to put those blinders on....jeez!

Well, there is another one besides MySpace... Xanga, young children go on there and tell their day to day life...

Sexual predators can read and a lot of these kids put locations and specific places... even their cell phone numbers...

Sex is everywhere, my concern with my children would be the safety of it all...

I agree, it's very scary having kids these days...........
You can only protect them from so much........... then its up to them to say NO - and be reminded of all the good things you taught them....
Hopefully they will make wise decisions - knowing the consequences of a bad decision.

Yes your children will explore, experiment, and take life on with gusto.... my generation did, your generation did, and theirs will too.

In my late teens we had "Woodstock" and all the challenges of Kent State, War in Vietnam, segragation, rioting, etc. We burned our bras, defied our parents, and many learned the hard lessons of life - REAL QUICK. Free Love resulted in lots of unwed mothers, and the spreading of many diseases.
Did we know better, yes, most of us did, but still took our chances.! Some of us even "kept our heads on straight" thru all of this and came out well rounded and knowledgeable adults. The 60's and early 70's were an experience in living and an eye opening education to the young at heart.

Did our parents try to protect us. Some did, some didn't. But they sure tired to hold us down!!!! Teens were shipped off to reformatories when parents couldn't control them.

The 60's generation were very lenient on their own children (mainly because their own parents were so strict). We made our children mind - but with a kinder hand. And the next generation was even more lienent.
Thus todays kids rule the roost so to speak.

I see things nowdays that my generation is partially responsible for...... and it saddens me that we didn't see "the light". But you can't go back and change the past - only send the future in a new direction!

When your teen says "WELL, YOU DID IT!!!"...... you have to be very carefull how you respond to that. They won't learn from your mistakes, but you can explain to them the mistakes that you did make. Give them something to "think about"..... and ponder on and what the penalties are down the road. Works everytime!

Nowdays, when a 5-8 year old is talking condoms, gays, and their favorite word is F@@@@, something is terribly wrong with our society.

My two neighbor boys 9 - 10 were having a conversation in the backset of my car one afternoon when I picked them up after school. I just listened in amazement as they chatted. Finally I asked them what they were talking about. I asked them to explain what it meant - They knew what condoms were for, how to use them, and they gave me their class speach on gays and lesbians. If these boys had grown up on a farm, I wouldn't have been surprised, but these were city kids. Their knowledge exceeded anyone over the age of 16.

So todays kids, many learn way too young about life..... they experiment way too soon....... they are penalized at a very young age for wrong decisions and the actions.

Yes, its scary, and I feel for the children and their loss of innocence.

Well, just as we were all talking about MYSPACE.COM it was on the local news tonite that 6 POLICE OFFICERS IN LEXINGTON were arrested for content that they posted on MYSPACE.COM.......

Can you believe this!!!! How Ironic!!! They published pics of them and George Michael Montgomery (whom they arrested recently for DUI) and then made all kinds of comments about the local folks and the police force they work on.

Very unbecoming behavior for a police officer..... content was pretty bad they said.... caused them all to get arrested.....

              Interesting......

I checked out MySpace.com and it IS a very open, broadminded site, where you can post just about anything....

A very interesting site, lots of different material, but much is not suitable for kids to read or observe. More adult site, then kid friendly. Not sure that I'd want my kids on it all afternoon......

              Just a thought,
